Cabo Punta Banda, Ensenada
These photos are from my 29 January hike out to the Punta Banda point, “Cabo Punta Banda”. The elevation is 1,185 feet above sea level and provides
360 degree views of the area. GPS N 31.7416 W 116.726
Entry to Cabo Punta Banda is from the paved road to La Buf, right exit at Camp 7, KM 18. It is the sight of the palapa roofed picnic ground. The
dirt and gravel road does steepen to approx 20 degrees in some spots, but, a decently pair of walking or hiking shoes w/ tread will get you there.
Dozens of microwave dishes dot the towers on top of this hill.
Weather was perfect and wind was calm on this Sunday hike.
First 3 pix view southwest to the peaks of Punta Banda, Mount Soledad and my neighborhood known as Puerto Escondido.
Caught a bee doing its thing around the Agave Shawii plant(“aka “century plant”) that blooms once, then dies.
The cactus skeleton is the foreground in the photo of the residential and tourist area of La Bufadora.
Two photos following the skeleton view northwest over the Punta Brava resort of the Flagship Group and Tiger Woods. I have nicknamed the development
"Campo Elin"
The Islas de Todos Santos are two islands that are part of the rocky continuance of the Punta Banda peninsula toward the northwest.
Camera scan north to the panoramic view of the Ensenada coastline and downtown cruiseport. Also, found a small fishing boat patrolling point with a
curious supervisor hanging on the rock behind.
Apologies for not taking photos of the antennas, government infrastructure and rust on the top of the hill.
Favorite quote about my possible move to Baja in 2006…”Baja? There is nothing but desert and rocks there!”.

Wow!! Nice pics. When I thought of Punta Banda I always thought of noisy tourist's at the Bufadora. I never realized that there was such a beautiful
place off the beaten path.

The Bufadora Mall has nothing to do with Baja. The place lost it's Baja status when they filled it up with junk stores and allowed everybody to throw
their trash all over the ground.
If, in fact, Baja does have a Tourism Department, they should be ashamed of themselves for promoting this mess.
Truth is, if the tour busses that carry cruise ship passengers out to the blowhole didn't go there, they wouldn't have anywhere to take them. Ensenada
is no more than a sad example of a tourist destination.

Thanks. The subject is better than the photographer, that's FO SHO.
Dennis, sadly, is correct once again about Ensenada's tourism struggle. But, I still find hidden adventures in the Ensenada area to keep myself
entertained every day.
Smaller venues always attract me. Off-the-beaten-paths find me. Which is why so many greet me with, "Hey, where have you been? I haven't seen you
in forever!" I'm ez to find. Everything except my bank acct PIN is on the interwebs.
J.P., I'm not a quad guy, but welcome anyone interested in exploring Punta Banda on foot. And need help lightening the Pacifico load in my frig
after.

Great pics of Punta Banda and Todos Santos---the island seems smaller than I would have thought.

Actually, there are two islands seperated by a narrow waterway. One of the landforms is hilly, the other relatively flat.
