Vizcaino Road to Turn-off to Bahia Asuncion- one photo added at the end.
From Vizcaino to the last farm, the road is in great shape---no problems, but from there on, be careful. Edit---it is fine until the KM 28 marker
and then be vigilant.
Some areas long areas were repaired and others ignored and some of the pot holes are growing rapidly. There were many more and more deep potholes
today than there were 2 weeks ago.
So don't let the first part fool you into thinking it is smooth sailing.
From what we heard, they were going to repair everything, but ran out of materials and money to they did a patchwork quilt design.
And then there can also be this
Thicker in some areas---not a thick as the Tule Fog in California, but it can hide approaching potholes, disabled vehicles, and vehicles with no
headlights driving down the wrong side of the road to avoid potholes.
And on the road into Bahia Asuncion there were two dead cows and these guys---fortunately they were alive and well
It is nice to be back in San Ignacio, one of our favorite towns in BCS. Don't know why, but this place always makes us feel so relaxed and lazy.
Perfect weather today---about 80, dry and with a nice breeze.
On edit---at least one RV caravan has returned to Baja. We saw them stopped in Vizcaino and hoped that with our last errand we would not end up
behind them. That was not to be. So we passed them one at a time----we really did not want to be behind them at the army stop!
The wagon master had obviously taught all of them to use the left hand turn signal when it was safe to pass, but several of them chose to turn on that
blinker on small hills and blind curves.
They, we think, are a good thing for business in BCS.

Thank you Diane! I know your reports are credible and it makes me miss my Baja home. I also love San Ignacio and I think it is because it is always
warm when I am there and it has a town square. Suzanne

Suzanne,
San Ignacio reminds us so much of many towns on the mainland with a great plaza. It is just a place to be!
This photo is of a good friend who came to visit of a couple of years ago and John in San Ignacio right after we bought some of the fresh date bread
and ate it!
Your home will be waiting for you.

Tell John to watch out for the skateboarders.
They can appear out of nowhere and do some real damage to a guy.

We are also in San Ignacio.
Shirt sleeves last night for dinner at the yurts.....nice!
A little cool this morning but not bad at all. The warmest jan/feb I have ever seen here.
We were thinking about Campo Rene....road ok?

Yes, we have been here at this time of the year when it was really cold! Great out at the lagoon today.
Campo Rene, from what I hear, and we have not been over the road for a couple of years is that the second section built has a lot of potholes. Love

In various places, especially about midway, the Abreojos highway has some potholes. We are trying to catch uptoAsuncion. The road from there into Campo Rene is graded and easy (couple of miles)

Ouch Ralph! I missed that picture before. I sure prefer San Ignacio without all those people! What a difference! Glad it is not too often that
way.
Here is a photo taken today of the Vizcaino road that shows the patchwork nature of the previous road repair. Nasty growing potholes followed by a
stretch of great road.
What is dangerous is one can be driving along on the really great parts and the awful parts suddenly appear. Then another great part appears, and
one thinks, ah, now this is great---opps, another bad stretch.
A friend saw a survey crew out there the other day so we can only hope another repair job is one its way!
