American tourist robbed of computer at knifepoint in La Paz

An American tourist who was walking in the Malecón area was surprised by three young subjects who, under threat of violence, took her computer and then fled in an unknown direction and were not captured. This was reported by the Municipal Police, the events occurred in broad daylight in this capital city.

It was at 1:50PM last Monday, when central control, computers and command (C-4) alerted the occupants of patrol car SP-89 to go to paseo Alvaro Obrebon, between Arreola and callejón Ignacio Bañuelos Cabezud, as there was a report of a violent robbery of an American tourist.

The policemen interviewed the victim, named Judith Monk, 68-years old, who was living aboard the boat Ana VI, anchored at Marina Palmira. She said that she was intercepted by three men, all dressed in blue jeans with black, blue and red shirts, who put a knife to her stomach and took her Acer portable computer.

Sad thing is that these thugs were so bold that they did this in broad daylight and to an older lady which they knew damn well they could victimize easily. The other sad thing is that this lady will now be in fear while in Mexico or anywhere else when a group of young adults or juveniles start approaching her. Too bad and hope she gets over the wrongful act committed against her and back to enjoying Mexico. Take Care & Travel Safe---------"No Hurry, No Worry, Just FUN" bajafun777

Since I travel Baja extensively,as well as live there, I would prefer to hear about crimes that may have been committed. Those of you that do not, should not open the post. The titles are not misleading to you, are they?

Coincidence can be tiring...

What also can be tiring, Dennis, is someone researching on a daily basis for crime that occurs in Baja..to post another sordid and unpleasant story to throw up to the readers....one can go to the local newspaper...El Vigia or Zeta for sensationalism and decapitations...I already see from my own job in person the assaults that occur here, fractured skulls, slashed throats.....so I get enough of sensationalism..I guess when I am not working I don't feel like reading about it..but yes, it does occur, I am not denying that.

Find your post to be very relevant....

I don't think that your post is irrelevant...geographical mapping of crimes can be very helpful...Lawrence Welk village is closer than 1000 miles away...it could very well be related...could be a schizophrenic lunatic that goes on a killing spree in the US could be committing murders and assaults in Mexico too...before discounting that two countries have separate crimes committed by separate people, look at the coincidences that are occurring...there could be a link!!!

Couple robbed at knifepoint

May I suggest that all travelers stay out of Oregon.......

Thursday, September 15, 2011 11:00 am

A man and woman were robbed at knifepoint Wednesday afternoon in North Bend.

The couple, both 20, were walking on a gravel road near Newmark Street and Chester Street when a man walked up and pulled a knife, police say.

North Bend police were unable to confirm this morning what the robber took from the couple. Neither victim was hurt.

CVS robbed at knifepoint......

I would advise everyone to stay out of San Diego.

From the news:

SAN DIEGO -- Police searched Wednesday for a man who robbed a CVS pharmacy in the San Carlos area at knifepoint while wearing a surgical mask.

The robbery at the CVS Pharmacy at 7393 Jackson Dr. was reported at 11:16 a.m. Tuesday, said San Diego police Officer Jane Jacobsen.

The robber entered the drug store wearing a surgical white mask and carrying a knife and a demand note, she said.
A clerk responding to the note handed the robber some cash, prompting him to flee, police said. The amount of the loss was not immediately disclosed.
The robber was described as a white male in his teens or early 20s, between 5 feet 1 inch and 5 feet 4 inches, with short blond hair, wearing a blue hooded zip-up sweatshirt and jeans. Robbery detectives were handling the investigation.

A crime is a crime. And that one got expensive coverage. I think the real issue here is two fold. You don't like the message sender and you want an increase in traffic to Baja (maybe because you want to lease/sell your property?). why not just not read hisposts?

Last I looked, this was not a Lawrence Welk Village site.

Nor was it a North Bend site.

In fact, it wasn't a CVS Pharmacy site either.

It's was and is a Baja site. Let's strive for relevancy.

With all due respect DENNIS...
You are one of favorite BNs here....

I think folks here are really saying that they are tired of the one sided negative stories that Mengano AKA Fulano keeps posting.

Yes....there is issues in Baja. Just not the End of the World as some tries to project. There are many great things in Baja ....not just crime.

Regards to you DENNIS, hope all is well with you. Deno

"Folks" can speak for themselves, as some in this thread have. This folk isn't tired of posts by Mengano. When I get tired of posts by a particular member I don't read them. All points of view is a healthy thing.

Thanks for your kind words, Deno. I do appreciate them.
That said..........I'm from a different school when it comes to avoiding discomfort. For instance....if I went into a mens toilet stall in Anthony's and the paper roll was 60 grit sandpaper, I wouldn't go into that stall in the future. I'd just avoid it and my comfort zone would stay intact.
Others, perhaps from this board, would continue to use that stall along with the abrasive accessories, but would do nothing except compare it with the cloudy-soft buttwipe at Paris de Noche and not take it upon themselves to alter their path of gritty resistance. They give up control of their own life and blame others for their misery.

IN OTHER WORDS...........
