Music in Baja

My wife and I visited Baja over the holidays. We traveled around northern Baja with one quick trip to Guerro Negro to see las ballenas. We came back with the Baja bug. One thing we wondered about was if there were musical events, touring groups, etc. that performed in Ensaenada, or anywhere else for that matter. But Ensenada seemed like it might be big enough.

Thanks

Welcome to BajaNomad, stonevendor. Are you inquiring about US groups or Mexican groups?

Music in Baja

Our tastes are varied. It could be Tuva Throat Singers, but they probably don't come to Ensenada. I was thinking of touring jazz, classical, latin (South American, Caribbean, etc. groups as well as Mexican groups). I entered the Univ. of Texas in 1970. Greater Austin was around 1/2 million. Even then there was an active music scene. Ensenada may have a fair number of resident musical groups but I don't know how to find out about them. And would welcome comments by those who follow such entertainment.

I've seen quite a few advertisements for visiting artists, but they mostly seem to be solo acts....noteworthy, popular stars. [no pun intended]
Visiting groups would most often be of the Folklorico type. That's my impression anyway.

Actually, there are others here more qualified to fill you in and I hope they see your post.

Mariachi Vargas from Guadalajra, preforms, in the bullring, at LA Cetto winery, in Valle Guadalupe the last Saturday in June. We have seen them there twice. Really Great!!
