Bahia Asuncion, Shari's B&B
On the 29th of last month I posted: "I know lots of places to camp, but I need help finding a sort of romantic getaway. A tiny village, a couple of
nice casitas for rent on or vey near the beach, a little restaurant. I mean, a REALLY small place. If anybody knows of anywhere that fits this bill,
please post up. It's important. Thanks." I got tons of replies. Many thanks to you all. We eventually chose, kind of blindly, Shari's Rock room at her
Blow Hole B&B at Bahia Asuncion. Originally we had booked her Sunset Casita, but we really liked the rock room and it's location and she was happy
to move us. It was essentially perfect; charming, quiet, and one of Shari's amazing and creative breakfasts every morning. The surf on the rocky
point below provided background music. The blow hole was there to provide scenic excitement , and while we were there many whales passes by in the not
too far distance
Asuncion is just big enough that there id big enough choice in restaurants for those staying more than a day or two. Not too far away are some of
the endless, unpopulated beaches why some of us go to Baja in the first place. We spent a day in the dunes next to one of those beaches in my FliPac
and is was memorable.
Like any local resident, Shari was full of information about where to go and what to do. We appreciated the information but since we were pretty much
dedicated to doing as little as humanly possible, we'll file most of it way for next time.
All things considered, if you want a cozy place next to the sea, consider Shari's BlowHole B&B. We really liked it, maybe you will too.
All things considered, we had a really nice time.

It was fun to meet the "romantic getaway" couple! We're glad you enjoyed yourselves doing as little as possible...happy valentives day you lovebugs.

We're at Shari and Juan's right now, and are really enjoying both the owners and the amazing, no other place like it in the world, location.
I even got to go with Juan to pick rocks yesterday, how cool is that?!

We have enjoyed all the places we've stayed on this trip, but Shari and Juan's, and Les and Blanca's are in line for a definite will do again. Less
driving, more staying next trip. The area between Punta Abreojos and Bahia Asuncion is captivating. Quiet, empty for miles, beaches. Lava rock reefs,
and the empty desert changing colors as the day progresses behind it all........
Plus, the most affordable "Way Back" machine I've ever experienced.

Those weird looking mountains you can see from the road to Abreojos and along the coast to Asuncion are the Sierra Santa Clara, and they hold a lost
mission, according to legend!

poor Bill...we put him to work on the rock pile!!! We have been having a wonderful time with our guests...we had a nice little meet n greet so they
could get to know some of the local yocals...nice night talking old wooden boats and deisels.

well, lets see...the last few days were...fresh crab or lobster omelette, abalone sausage with veggies and potatoes, nopal scrambled eggs, my
personal favorite is seedy waffles with maple syrup...throw in some fresh fruit salads, sweet bean empanadas, fresh tortillas, my homemade organic
tomato salsa, fresh guava/pomogranate juice.... yadda yadda yadda or in spanish, weedy weedy weedy.... we also provide meals if you want em...last
nights valentine special was breaded shrimp...yum yum
and here is the romantic getaway couple doing just that.....
the view from that bed is pretty neat...Asuncion Island on one side and San Roque Island from the other...I ask what kind of breaky our amigos want
and try to comply.

This might just qualify Shari for the best B&B breakfast in the entire world, and I'm not kidding!
The Four Seasons can't even come close with their frozen seafood and disgruntled employees.

Juan has told me stories about it...that someone sighted it from the air but nobody has found it since! sounds like a mission for nomads all right!

That doesn't help... we had the GPS and Google Earth images of the Lost Mission of Santa Isabel last May (2011) and it wasn't there... (dtbushpilot
made me say that)

Can the road from MX-1 handle a 40ft Class A motor home?

Paved all the way from Hwy 1 at the turn off south of GN. Lots of potholes, so don't drive it with the sun in your eyes. These are suspension killing
holes!
The road from Asuncion south to La Bocana is graded dirt, probably fine with your RV, but there may be a narrow spot or two because of the pipeline
being installed along that road. Stay on the main road, which mostly follows the pole line.
I think that you could do a loop by going from Asuncion through La Bocana and on to Punta Abreojos, where you get back on asphalt and return to Hwy 1.

Shari and Juan have a nice campground in Asuncion, right on the bluff over the town beach.
Blanca and Les have a place to park your RV next door to their B&B
All great folks and beautiful locations to hang for a couple of days.
