Semana Santa and getting out in time.
My son's spring break is also the same week as Easter. 3/31 to 4/8. I was looking for an opinion. If we got back home on Thurs. before Easter
weekend, would we escape most of the madness?
We just returned from seeing the whales at Scammon's and really want to get back down. Trip report coming soon.
Thanks.

Over in our neck, the gringos arrive on the beaches the weekend before and the working Mexicans arrive on Wed/Thur.
I think you will have no problem at all, returning to the states on Thursday.

We've waited until Sunday to leave...will do that again this year! However, you must wake up early and be ahead of the pack!!!!
Whenever I hear that rainy, chill wind blow. I think it may be time to head for Mexico. Tengo que obedecer mi corazon!

We have left SF Saturday afternoon late and then stayed in Yuma on our way home to Phoenix.
In fact a few years ago we missed the earthquake by leaving on Sat.

Similar question to the topic here: I have read that "semana santa" is also the week after Easter (some people have the week off before Easter,
others the week after Easter). Does anyone down there agree? I'm planning a quick trip down to Mulege April 11-15 and don't want to get caught in
the Sunday mess either, but wasn't sure if it would apply to the Sunday after Easter.

Watch out if driving north during that week before Easter. Traffic south on Mex 1 is heavy and in a hurry. Possibly even some alcohol involved.

Just about every Easter I've spent on a beach I have been adopted by a mexican family and spoiled to death. One good thing about getting old is,
losing one's hearing. The cacophony is muted to a dull roar.

I`ve crossed Easter Sunday before and it was easy. This was at San Ysidro and about 8am.
