Memorable encounters along the way

I met some great people on my recent Baja trip.

This lady has a small panaderia at Punta Baja. She bakes cookies and empanadas – a portion of which are sold in El Rosario.

Her mango empanadas are perfection.

This vaquero from Tres Virgenes was too cool – even had spurs.

It was a great lobster season at La Bocana this year.

Coco’s doing fine. I stopped by to wish him happy birthday.

This guy was kinda quiet – must have been a bit shy:

people you meet along the way is such a baja treat...your photo of the vaquero at the volcano reminds me of my first time camped out alone there. At dawn, an old man shuffled up on his mula and I offered him some cafe and enjoyed a little chat.

He lived at a nearbye ranch and so I asked him if he had ever seen an omni (ufo). He said No....not today! only on thursdays did the omnis come and land behind that cerro over yonder!....classic
