there is a fairly new post on BBP which lists a bunch of dirt and even a couple paved old strips which have expired permits - just FYI stuff. Includes gonzaga and many other popular spots for the winged crowd.

you land at your own risk. If feds are there monitoring you MIGHT get some hassle like what happened to some guys at Alfi's a few weeks ago.

i have been at PSFO when a garrison was there in full dress and humvees - but no negatives so license was likely ok.
i have never before seen or read that PSFO was without its permit so thot that was strange.
but the logistics of getting it back in order plus the cost can be daunting.

many strip owners have had to get to Mexico city to get their authorizations - not cheap or convenient from baja.

it is a special place, i wish them the best since my 1st landing there in 1981 or so..

DK you did not know Meling had an airstrip or that it was closed. There are Indian paintings on a large rock pile near there.

I have been there, and I knew it quite well was a fly in resort. I was just helping Capt. Mike with the spelling, for next time! :light:;)

I have not seen any Indian paintings near there, however... You have a photo?

WTF?? who cares about all this misspelling except the lunatic fringe? hahahaha. jest funnin on ya DK - i know your are obsessed.
i cut and pasted the list from the BBP post. I really don't care about getting an "A" in baja 101 here. and i didn't go in and spel cheque the original post - who has time? why bother?

i have been on the BBP site for eons and no one has ever posted a note to correct someone's spelling. It just doesn't matter over there. To be sure i see more grammatical errors here than any other thing - like their vs there vs they're; and to vs too; and your vs you're; border vs boarder......i say re fricking lax. no one corrects those things. My 7th grade English teacher Mary Ellen Smies would be rolling in her grave.:biggrin:

No worries Capt. Mike... it may have been a typo? Maybe I am sensitive to it more as one of the Meling boys recently joined our Norwegian Fish Club, in Vista. Skol!

i have friends in from Wisconsin this week - swedes norwegian mixes given the names.
when i visited them in 2009 , 1st time in WI, we went to many ethnic food places and my BMI went way over the legal limit...

Yup... for those who like to drink beer and eat fish! The Norwegian Fish Club Odin (aka Viking Fish Club). We meet about 5 times a year. Last week, we had over 80 for dinner with 7 in my group. We enjoy many beers and skols with Aquavit:

There are petroglyphs on the large rocks at the approach (low) end of the Meling runway. In the photo below they are just to the left of the close end of the runway:
