Are there really English language channels on SKY/VE tv?
This relates to the Bahia de los Muertos area:
I was considering setting up a 48" dish and bringing the DISH reciever from the US as several of my neighbors have done. (They have the DISH
subscription NOB and just bring their recievers back and forth)
Someone posted a few days ago that VE TV had several english language channels. Someone else posted that they don't.
The VE and SKY websites aren't clear on the details. ONE movie channel states "english sountracks with spanish subtitles". Some of the other
channels appear to be US-based but without any indication of the language. For instance : National Geographic, Discovery, Fox, ESPN and ESPN2. Is
the language english, spanish, or selectable?
Anybody have any first hand experience??

We are looking at VE as well. I recall one English channel (American TV?) that seemed to have a lot of CBS content. Movies were mainly English with
Spanish subtitles.
Natgeo, Discovery were both Spanish.

We have VE Sky in Abreojos. Yes there are English channels. But before you get too excited.../. not many. We don't watch a lot of TV and enjoy the
Mexican news (Mexicali for our area). It also helps with our Spanish.
Golden - English speaking and Spanish sub titles
Golden Edge - English speaking and Spanish sub titles
Fox - English, mostly sitcoms and reruns
Sony - English mostly sitcoms and reruns
ESPN International - mostly English - not same as ESPN in the US
ESPN - mostly Spanish commentators - some English
ESPN2 - mostly Spanish commentator - some English
Discovery - mostly English
Discovery Health - mostly English
Nat Geo - English
Biography - English
As with all cable companies channels are subject to change. VE SKY used to have an excellent station, American International (or something like that)
but it was taken off the air because of a payment dispute. It ha d current programming and a Major US news network on it and was geared towards the
international US speaking community.
If you watch a lot of TV I would not recommend it. For us it is great. Installation was free, and monthly fee is 169 pesos.

On Edit: We have been a subscriber for about a year. Do as we did, find someone you has it and flip through the channels.

Alas, American TV Network is no longer there. They have multiple Nat Geo an Discovery channels - some in English, some in Spanish.

Don't know how to run the thing.

My biggest beef with Sky is that they are closely connected with BBC British Broadcasting Company and their Nat Geo channes are always the BBC
productions. I speak spanish so l like the Spanish channels but am overloaded with the BBC. In our area at Santa Rosalia, there are definately some
of the channels in english but the main goal was a cost effective alternative for people in Mexico to get Sat TV.

While too fast to tell what the language is, this will give you the channel numbers.
Found it on the Internet

Thanks. Exactly the info that I was looking for.
Enough info that we will probably go with VE when we get back down and not hassle with the big 48" DISH dishes. Neighbors have a lot of trouble
stabilizing the big dishes when the north winds blow. (like for 3 months straight!)

Mulegena...having just installed SKY sat tv at the Coyote beach house, I find many English channels. More than enough. Subtitled in Spanish, even.
I like it better now than the decaying Direct TV available.
Why don't you just scroll thru the categories offered on the menu ....and make your own 'favorites' list? Takes just a few minutes.
News, sports, educational, children, adult, movies, series, history, etc, etc...all of these categories have some available in English.
I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.
