John

I have a high-speed connection, and it took about 30 seconds for it to download-----a long time for high-speed. You will need some patience, it appears.

What are the start times (in local times) for each day?

Also, how easy would it be to travel on the paved/dirt roads (especially Hwy 5, the road into BOLA) during or prior to each race day? It would be nice to stay a bit ahead of some of the race.

BTW, LoretoFest is May 4-6. These two events could be combined into a single trip pretty easily if one has the time.

I didn't see any start times listed on their web site or in the rules. I think the day 1 start in Mexicali is around 8am. For the other days it may be earlier. They also may use local mtn time in Loreto and La Paz for the start. Time in Baja Sur is 1 hour later than northern Baja.

The paved roads all race vehicles must travel at the posted speed, no racing. The race vehicles have plenty of time to get to the next race stage. The dirt roads is where it could get dicey for a non-race vehicle. Probably best to stay off until most of the racers have went by. They send a sweep vehicle thru after a certain time has elapsed.

For those with problems opening the PDF file to see the 3 maps...

The most interesting section to me is the last day... La Paz to San Jose del Cabo... New stuff, including a run over the Narranjas Road, Sierra La Laguna!

Yeah, the Naranjas/Naranjos Road is fun. They are doing it in the right direction -- steep mountain goat run up and smooth ride down.

Any suggestions on where might be a good viewing location in the vicinity of Gonzaga? Well, besides the upwind side of the course.

You know, a gnarly turn or a hill climb or something.

Do racers still use the term gnarly? :?: I'm trying to fit in here.

Anywhere from the vicinity of Papa Fernandez down to the Bay itself? Would love to just o'night it the night before and just move camp slightly to a good viewing location.

Not driving a Cadillac so I'm not too worried about bandidos...........

All freshly graded for the new pavement, so it will be fast for most. Maybe on the hilltop between Punta Bufeo and Papa's road so you can see them coming?

For the Baja 1000 they usually build a jump near the store and gas station. Who knows what they might do for this race.
