Casitas for rent in SPM parque national

Hi all,

Those of you who have been up to the park during recent years have probably noted the cool wood cabin/casitas right at the park entrance. Well its been quite a while coming for them to be ready to rent but ready they are!!

We had a chance to check one out with the park staff and they are quite nice!!

So attached is a poster with info and prices. They were full up when we were up in the park doing volunteer work (showing visitors the night sky with my scope-- had about 100 people sat night) for semana santa!

And if there is a kitchenette, is it stocked with dishes etc or bring your own.

Also, do you know if they are pet friendly?

Looks great!

We only saw the 8 person cabana, and it had a kitchenette, don't know if they are equipped with dishes, etc. I imagine you probably have to bring your own.

I sent Lalo the park manager a text just now to ask about the pets, I think they are allowed. Best to e-mail the sanpedromartir@baja.gob.mx for questions.

Next time we go up we'll take some pics and ask more questions!

They seem to be a fine deal for what you get!!

Mike

Astro, what's the weather like up there these days? I have only been there once and it was very early October. They weather was perfect. I was thinking of going back around Memorial day.

This is definitely a good option. Many times I've thought about stopping at SPM on our return trip but didn't have camping gear with us.

If you've never been there, go, it's a real treat. The casitas sound great! And the camping is also really good. I was there in 04 and my friend and I were the only people there besides the one park employee. Great place to hike. From certain spots you can see the SOC which is cool. I was there in Sept. and the weather was nice. Just wanted to post a few photos for those of you that haven't been there before.

Thanks for posting the beautiful pics Goldhuntress! Well weather wise its snowing here right as I write this, no accumulation but I'll bet there a few inches up in the park!

Diana Lalo e-mailed me and said that for now dogs are still allowed in the casitas.

just an update: if any of you nomads are on Facebook check out this page:

http://www.facebook.com/SanPedroMartir

They have just put up a bunch of pics showing the insides of the casitas.

Also an FYI you cannot pay at the gate arrangements have to be made in advance to pay at a bank.

yeah its the park staff that runs it, they finally got satellite internet last summer!
The sierra Juarez has a similar FB page.

Semana Santa was a fun event I took my scope up and showed Mars, Saturn to a crowd of about 100 people.

was that your tele pictured on the FB page?

are they still limiting car camping to the campgrounds right near entry gate? Or any camping being allowed up in meadows nearer the observatory?
