Texting from Baja to US

Does anyone know if you can send text message from Telcell phone to a US cell? To be more precise, how do you do it?

??? What's up with the 52 ?? That's the country code for Mexico. I think you probably have to have some kind of a code for the US cell phone service provider

I have done it several times on my iPhone, but I have a Mexico calling plan from ATT.
No zeros, no 011, no 52.
Cost me $5.95 per month, and I can dial any US number as listed, plus I can dial any Mexican number as listed.

My friends in Acapulco (they have a telcel phone) send me texts (to my US phone) all the time. They hold down the "0" key and the "+" sign pops up; then she presses 1 plus my area code & phone number. Some phones already have the "+" sign on a key, in which case you could do it that way too.

From What I Understand About Telcel

It depends on your plan. Prepaid phones are far more restricted than phones that have a billing and credit history.

*111 is Telcel's customer service contact, with an English speaking department. They will check your account and help you out.

For what it is worth, we can text our daughter in Orange County from our TelCel phones all the time, with no problems.

Ours is prepaid. And I have our US phone with us. So I need to experiment and call 111.

I have been doing it for some time. I now have a jailbroke smart fone and buy a Amigo Data Plan to cover my needs. I have used video chat with my brother in the U.S. while crusing out punta banda with my mexican pal in his old ford. There is 3G in the Ensenada area but only Edge in my village.

To text to U.S. I use
+1-714-555-1212 this is an example fone number

I read this after I posted. This is how I do it...
