BAJA: A boat..a beach.. and a beer....
Baja day report on April 24, 2012.
As the saying goes: This day looked to be...."Just another ______ day in Paradise!"
So...??...Hey, a good day for a boat ride on the Sea Of Cortez.
If you must have goals, here they are:
VIEWS:
-tourists seldom see this offshore view of Mulege:
River estuary and lighthouse at entrance.
Lighthouse Point and part of Mulege's Loma Azul neighborhood
Offshore water companions we met:
On top of the water...this nice southbound sloop.
On top, under, and over the water:
Porpoise being purposefull:
"Sure, go ahead and pet them."
NEWS
We voted this as Best Beach choice to picnic and beachcomb for those collectable treasures.
-Domingo Beach...Playa Domingo at entrance to Bahia de Concepcion.
"Hmmm..? 2 choices: Canada that way? Or stay here in Baja?
Of course, you can always wet a line if you really want to:
Scot pulls in a nice set of fillets:
And...to round out the day, a short stop at Ana's Cafe, Santispac for a refreshing drink & some tasty tacos.

Great shots Roger; thanks for sharing. Seeing that view looking back at Mulege as you pass the lighthouse makes me REALLY envious & miss it down
there; only 28 more days until we're there (but who's counting?!).
I'll give Playa Domingo a try next trip. Are there any good beaches around the point on the other side of Chivato? Each time we go out there we
settle on the shore in front of the hotel & the homes since it always seems to be rough & I don't want to deal with the currents around the
point; or we get lazy & just end of going into the bay to Armenta or Requeson.

Hola gallesram,
You are pretty much doing the best thing now for lee-side beaches. The ones around the corner north of Pta. Chivato are indeed generally windy..(
although we have had some great times on those, too, back in the days when who cared about WIND, being young, dumb, and full of energy.) I'm like
you...today it all depends on what the day is doing windwise.
If, on the other hand, it is calm..then there are 2 great places to get on the beach. You will see them clearly when rounding the point along the
shoreline. Also a long stretch just before San Marcos Island. We used to make blinds and hunt doves and ducks there..back in the day. 
If I can find a photo I'll post it. Good luck out there!

Great; thanks Roger; I appreciate the advice and if you have a picture or 2, that would be awesome. Ah, to be young and dumb; although that cost me
an engine once when we decided to go out at sunset and upon returning to Mulege in the dark we hit the reef at the lighthouse (none of my lights
worked, just when I needed them). I wisened up pretty quickly after that fiasco. Not sure which was worse: the sound of the reef on the fiberglass
hull of the boat or the sound of the prop grinding against the reef.

I found some pics of that first beach just around the corner to the north from Pta. Chivato..as you are heading for San Marcos.
We used to do very, very well diving for snapper and lobster there years ago. Another time, another Baja. Not so today.
These beaches are great places in calm weather. It was sooo full of marine life here back in the day, that I was all set to build a nice home
overlooking the twin beaches from that high bluff behind. The constant winter winds convinced me otherwise..and I went south to Coyote Bay to get
behind some mountains.
The beaches are just over this familar-looking landmark hill at Pta. Chivato.
