Going thru Puertecitos south there is only about 10 miles of good graded road before Gonzaga Bay. Go for it, you'll be glad you did.

GB is great for fishing...............there are two operating service stations on the route southward once you pass San Felipe.

Once past Puertocitos......about 5 miles.....many good fishing holes off the shoreline......the road is great now going south, there is still a little bit of gravel road 10 or miles prior to GB. The dirt stretch was recently graded, so your tow should be fine.

Punta Final is another great spot near GB

All these area have great hiking paths too.....lots of wild life.

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

Watch out for the vados. You'll see grooves in the pavement where tongues have hit. Suspension breakers for sure.

Your wife perhaps?

Cabrilla, grouper, roosters, Sierra, pargo, all go off pretty good in the summer and during the spring and winter yellows, pargo, and some really good white seabass fishing.

But the Trigger fishing is best. Light gear....damn good eats.

That answer your question?

San Felipe to El Rosario (or El Rosario to San Felipe) VIA Gonzaga Bay is about 241 miles.

If you are topped off at either point and have a tank range of 250-300 miles (I should hope), then it is not a worry. If not, bring extra in cans (but fill them in Mexico).
