Wow that brings back memories, I rode my Kawasaki Super Sherpa across that same road and have a pic I took in that same spot just before the goes down
into La Purisima, I'm a newb here so don't know how to post a pic yet. I've done two rides down into Baja so far, Last year I did it on my old BMW
R100GS with my friend tagging along on my Sherpa, Both me and the BMW took a real beating, so this year my friend couldn't go, so I did it solo, What
a great time I had, Stayed in Mulege for a few days just riding around meeting all the nice people at Jungla Jims, Can't wait to get back down for
another ride next winter.
This site is a wealth of information, and I enjoy reading it daily, So out of lurk mode and Hi to all the Nomads!

If you search 'How to Post Photos on Nomad' you get a lot of info... Here is the latest and briefest notes I have posted:

Instead of posting a reduced size or reduced file size image from your PC to Nomad (using BROWSE)... Try the (FREE) photo hosting site http://www.Photobucket.com ... and upload from your PC files to your own Photobucket album (but at less than 800 pixels wide...)
Here is a recent post trying to help some Nomads who are still posting GIANT images that stretch the Nomad page wide off the screen...
For Nomads who have been posting too big photos on Nomad... Doug has asked (and those with standard 15" monitors appreciate) to limit the pixel width
to a max. of 800.
The sizing is done when you upload photos TO Photobucket from your PC. So, if you didn't do that already... and they are at the full size setting,
they will stretch the Nomad pages wide (on normal monitors).
How to resize them with Photobucket, on your album page:
1) Click the red button 'UPLOAD' at the top of the Photobucket page.
2) In the Upload box that appears, see (in small blue text): 'Customize your upload options', and click that.
3) Choose a reduced size. 640x480 is nice for most photos. I usually only go to the 800x600 size for maps for max. detail on Nomad.
4) At the bottom, click 'SAVE'! Thats it!!!
Now, until you change that setting, all photos will be uploaded to Photobucket at whatever reduced size you picked!
To post your photos on Nomad, use your mouse and copy the link called 'IMG Code', below the photo you want to show... and paste it onto Nomad where
you type in your text... You can post several photos at a time, but I suggest not more than a dozen, and double space between each phot link.
Specially if you add some captions under each photo.

I took the same picture last Saturday, just with a little zoom. We took the road out of San Isidro north through Guajademi to Mulege. Beautiful
country.

What a trip Blair.........looks like the same photo almost.
And your trip sounds like fun too. Yeah, that is some beautiful country. Some areas look like your on Mars with that beautiful dark bronze rock.

I only went through there a few times, always race related in the 70's.
What I remember, vividly, was just headed south out of town you crested a hill and then a very abrupt left on a fairly wide but loose gravel road,
with a drop off on the right that went waaaaaaay down.
It came up real quick, and more than one pre-runner met his match on that curve.
We were so jazzed the first time we raced there that we almost took the dive, even though we knew the curve and drop were coming up......
Adrenaline makes a wonderful fuel for the bod....

Looking down on Cuba
Thanks for the neat pix.
I have a couple just like 'em.
Here's a little tidbit of local folklore:
The locals call this view "looking down on Cuba".
The story goes that not too long ago there was a man who lived in La Purisima who had a great big black beard (not many ranch men sport 'em).
Everybody called him Castro because of it, and therefore La Purisima became known as Cuba, home of Castro.
The nickname still remains.

That 'lover's leap' view point after all that washboard makes for a lot of similar shots. I love the Cuba story! I have mine taken from the seat of
my DR650.
On the west end of La Purisima is a Bougainvilla Google can see from space. We bought ice cold 6 oz. bottles of cervesa and drank them in the red
shade. It's a cool place. Thanks for the reminder Jon.
