Saturn
Saturns getting to be fairly prominient in the east an hour or 2 after sunset. heres a pic I took this evening with my scope near the SPM park here in
Baja Norte. With binocs on a tripod you could just make out that Saturn has rings but you would need a scope to see them clearly.

Wow!
The SAME boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg. It's about what you are made of NOT the circumstance.

My pleasure to share! Heres a better processed version of saturn. FYI its not one static image its 700 frames stacked in special software. I take a
video of the planet with a camera that takes up to 30 frames per second and then the best, sharpest frames are stacked.

Nice image! I will take a look tonight with binocs.
Astro,
Does your software allow you to produce colorized images?

My brother just got to see Saturn thru the 60' telescope on Mt. Wilson the other day. The same one Albert Einstein used to see the rings of Saturn in
the 1930's. Cool.

Thanks Ken and Ateo. Ken if you look with binocs you will see Saturn as an elongated star, better if you use a spotting scope with about 25X's
magnification. To get a colour image I have to shot through red, green and blue filters and then combine them. Short answer no, my tracking is not
good enough for that. The type of scope I have is designed mostly for visual.
Ateo: cool about your brother getting to look through the Mt Wilson scope, I'm sure he saw a grand sight, when conditions are good (stable air) you
can see lots of subtle banding on Saturn!

Very impressive that with today's technology a guy without a 60' telescope could take such a beautiful image. Thanks again. If only Galileo could
have seen this. Poor bastard died having peered through something probably not as good as Ken's binocs.

As Galileo did in the early 1600's and thought it was a planet with ears

Yup Galileo did'nt have much to work with telescope wise but his keen intellect more than made up for it! Heres a good read about telescopes in his
time, his scope had a tiny field of view and only 10-15X's magnification!
It also had bubbles in the optic, and the glass had a reddish tinge due to iron content.

By comparison the manufacturer of the mirror in my scope (Carl Zambuto who is one of the best mirror makers in the world) is ground to within 1.15
millionths of an inch accuracy!
