San Felipe Fishing Fleet and Mex Bureaucracy
Due to the 'Erik' fishing boat sinking a while back,
the Mex Govt has apparently been looking into the
Sea of Cortez water activities that originate in San Felipe,
The Tony Reyes fishing operation has not
been able to run it's scheduled trips, they have cancelled
2-3 in the last 3 weeks, Mex Bureauracy at it's best

If government intervention can help prevent another tragedy like the "Erik," then the delay is justified. Crew safety training, better emergency
electronics to summon help, and ship inspections are just a few of the issues I hope the government is considering.

better emergency electronics to summon help do not do any good during a severe Chubasco because it just takes too long to reach a boat. However, if
you tried to stop boats from going out because there was a possibility of a Chabasco no boat would ever be allowed to leave the dock.

Yeah, the whole thing could have been worked on, solutions offered, and trips could have occured, but the government way is to get all stewed up over
little things and sit on your hands and do nothing.
After the incident where a boat ended up on Angel de la Guardia Island, they all started carrying radios. I agree that they should come in, set
reasonable rules of operation, maybe even explain to the customers that they are going out to sea in old used boats and they take some risk opon
themselves, but the inactivity and wringing of hands is totally counter productive.
I used to write really negative stuff about the Eric as it was a shoddy, poorly run operation, with questionable crew and motherboat, but the Tony
Reyes has been a good run operation for many years and following the Eric mishap, they went through their operation to see what they might do to
improve things. Now they have paying customers and are ready to go, but some beauracrat is sitting on the permits cause no one wants to make a
decision.

well said,, in the long run they will again resume these fishing trips as they should, but in the mean time they are just shooting themselves in the
foot by delaying the permits,
surely they have the resources to sit down and determine what needs to be done with these kind of operations, inspect the boats, and the captains and
crew and anything else they need to do and get on with it,
