Tijuana to host livestock expo

by Andrea García June 29 2012

First of its kind in town, from July 20 to August 12

"Even though farm animals are not one of Baja California's strong points other than for the milk, the first livestock expo of the area will be held in Tijuana this summer from July 20 to August 12 at the Alamar show center.

A recreational, commercial and entrepreneurial event for the whole family is what this expo has in mind; it will also focus on showcasing cattle, sheep, horses and swine.

In addition to having a snake house where species from all over the world will be displayed, there will be livestock exhibitions, regional cuisine and musical performances.

With a total of 24 days of fair and the support of Tijuana's 20th City Council, this expo will have a reptile show, singing competitions, magicians and even a clown show.

The "Rincón del Pueblo" (The People's Corner) will be the stage where performances by Los Pikadientes de Caborca, Hiperboreal, Los Valedores de la Sierra, "Lapicito y Gomita", El Mariachi Monarcas 2000 and Eduardo Jiménez amongst others will be presented.

The event was announced with a press conference which Carolina Bustamante, president of the Tijuana's chapter of the National System for Integral Family Development (DIF in Spanish), attended. This institution will be receiving 5% of every entry ticket.

The "Exposición Ganadera" (the Livestock Expo's official name) will also feature craft products exhibition and sale, 24 mechanic attractions 11 of those intended for children, a rodeo, Voladores de Papantla demonstration, a children's farm and a botanical garden.

The general cover charge will be of $50 Mexican pesos (around 4 dlls) and will grant you access to musical performances, mechanical games and snake exhibitions."
