Helicopter in Punta Chivato doing what?

I was in PC a few days ago and saw a helicopter flying around with a small missile looking thing dangling on a 100ft line out the bottom of the aircraft. Flying out over the water and across the land a number of times back and forth.

Does anyone know what that was about?

Appeared it was on a pattern so I'd guess some kind of mapping project. It would fly out to about Mulege and return. Each pass a little farther West. Any one else seen this going on in their area?

I saw a similar chopper in BoLA about a year ago doing the same thing. No idea what it is for. Maybe Goooogle earth is going to show pictures of our places on GE.

Boy that would probably be HD. Developers would love to see the detail. So would I:spingrin:
Here a pic I took as it passed out front.

There is a decal by the exhaust I couldn't bring out in any of my shots.
Edit: This is as good as I can do. Anyone figure it out?

Thats the SGM Servicio Geologico Mexicano, something like the USGS, doing some land survey and actualization for the land use in the peninsula for the INEGI maps.

They´ve been working in this side of the pacific and i think they´ve choosen the wrong season to work the gulf side.

this picture its from GN airport, last month.
