Buying a laptop in Los Cabos or La Paz???
Greetings nomad-ers,
So, I need to get a new laptop pronto, and I don't really have any way to get one down here from the US. I will probably have to buy one in Los Cabos
or in La Paz. Do any of you have recommendations for places to get good laptops (with English keyboards)? I need something that is powerful enough
to run photoshop and a GIS mapping program. It does not have to be top of the line, but it has to be pretty fast. Any suggestions for retailers that
have a good selection and decent prices?
Thanks!

Good Luck on that one. I had a friend who recently went through the same thing. All she could find was Windows in Spanish and Spanish keyboard. She
had to finally have one brought down with a friend. She tried Office Depot, Office Max and Walmart - not sure if she tried Cosco or not.

Check Telnor out they have some good deals on Televisions and Computers our modem for the DSL conked out and we were at Telnor picking up a new one
they had Boxes of nice flat screen Tv's and I asked what was going on the person at the desk informed me that due to my length of service and good
payment record I had a line of credit for 32 thousand pesos and they would add monthly payment's to my phone Bill. I opted out but it was a
interesting concept .
Telnor has a site on the computer where you can ckeck it out.

Someone there will have Windows 7 for sale. Figuring out an operating system in Spanish is sometimes challenging. Figuring out a made for Mexico
computer after returning to the USA is even more challenging.

Exacto in La Paz and San Jose have always given me great service and programmed my computers in English. I have bought numerous computers from them.
In San Jose they are on the lower floor of the Cafe Vanilla strip mall. Or you can go to the Apple store in San Jose or San Lucas and they will sell
you an English Apple.

There is a Hewlett Packard dealer in San Lucas and they will order anything you want. I purchased a Tower from them a couple of years ago. Took about
a week to get. Simple to change the operating system language.

The San Jose store is IStyle too and has the same owner as the San Lucas store. It is in the strip mall one block north of Mega on the east side of
the highway and just north of the new Oxxo.
