BAJA WOODWORKING 5 Star Cabinetry
Baja Woodworking Review
Stars (* - *****)
5 Craftsmanship
5 Installation
5 Email accessible during planning stage
5 Reasonable prices
5+ Very nice guy, lovely family
A Nomad post by Mariz with a link to her husband's woodworking website and a positive review by ncampion was all we had to go on, but we dove in and
contacted Chris at Baja Woodworking in Loreto to build custom kitchen cabinets.
We live a few hours away from Loreto and had never met Chris and hadn't seen his work in person but after working through the design process with him
(all via email) we had a good feeling and added 2 bath vanities, pantry shelving units, and closet organizers to the order.
We couldn't be happier with the results - beautiful cabinets and great storage furniture. I'm thinking next will be screen doors, entrance gate,
entertainment center…
For custom cabinetry and furniture in BCS I highly recommend Baja Woodworking http://www.bajawoodworking.com/
(This has been an unsolicited review BTW)

That's standard base for installing granite on top of the plywood.

Those cabinets look great! Nice work. Really like the "shaker" design for the doors and drawer fronts.

Cindy,
Is that alder? May we ask about the cost?

I'll re-up my recommendation about the quality of the work that Chris does. First rate all the way. He does use Alder for most of the work. It's
readily avaliable in Loreto and looks great.

Does he do work in the San Jose area. I have existing granite slabs and would like to replace the cabinets underneath without sacrificing the
granite. I am interested in the cost as well...they look great.

The cabinets are alder and the style was my choice but I'm sure Chris could make something more ornate for you. I'm glad Mari stepped in because I
couldn't have broken down the pricing for you anyway because he also built the items below.
The kitchen and bath cabinets are custom made to our exact specs (with a large double rolling shelf base cabinet built in to the island in the kitchen
pic, for example) so I wouldn't even be able to compare the price to something like Home Depot because it wouldn't be an accurate comparison. I will
say that cabinets weren't a high priority for us and we didn't set aside a huge amount of the construction budget for cabinetry. But even with the
extra storage items, we came in under what we'd expected to spend- and got something way better than expected.
In our out-of-the-way location there are no carpinteros and we were happy to have even found out about Chris. It wasn't until we saw our stuff for the
first time on delivery day that we realized we'd scored a gem!
Chris also built an entire pantry of melamine/wood fixed and adjustable shelving units
Closet organizer with hanging bars and shelving
A furniture-like alder drawer unit with adjustable shelves

I have to add my endorsement for Chris at Baja Woodworking. Chris is very professional, reliable and talented and has many ideas to help in the
design of whatever home wood project you have. He helped design and then crafted all the cabinetry in our new kitchen in Nopolo and has also built
several custom doors for us. Very good quality.

If possible, would you mind taking a picture of the drawer guides and the door hinges? I'm in the biz and am curious on what they are using.
Thanks

Chris uses "Euro Style" 35mm cup hinges and ball bearing drawer slides for almost everything.
