HTML is always off.
"BB Code is ON".
What is BB Code you ask?:

If you have a straight link, you can just generally just put the URL in, and it'll get picked up as such, and the BB Code will be automatically
applied. There are some quirks (like when commas are in the URL), but generally it works.

Your example omitted the `:` and has a space, which is not allowed.
It should look like this
http://yoursite.com or http://www.yoursite.com

I just left clicked to highlight the http as above for example:
(for this site) then left clicked to copy the link, selected the hyperlink box then inserted it the window that appears after selecting the hyperlink
box. However when I insert the link wich has the http://( in blue), and enter the same window comes back blank and I have to reinsert it and it does
not work, why???

[ur l]http://your site.com/[/ur l]
the above code was generated from the "link" icon, but spaces added so they are not valid. below is with out spaces.
If you can not get the "link" icon to work for you, just type the code as above, but with no spaces.
also use the "post reply" just below and to the right ( right) of the post, not the one at the bottom
http://yoursite.com/
hope that helps

The first window asks what you want the text to say. The second window is for the URL (http address). Each popup window explains what it's
requesting.
So, if you want text to appear, it would look like this:
Link to this thread
If you leave the FIRST popup blank, only the URL address will appear:

Hang in there, you will figure out the correct way to add a URL with a bit of experimenting. It does work.
