EMERGENCY CASH

emergency cash?

Can A person use pay pal to send them self some cash somewhere in Mexico?¿?

Say for example, you were hanging around down in Chiapas with your new novia. I guess when she left all my cash and credit card must have fallen into her pocket or something. I know a girl like that , so much cuter than a teddy bear would never take something that was not hers. Or the police stoped to check for ... and swiped my money, or the

anyway, the possibility exists that all of a sudden I could find myself 3,000 miles from home with no cash. What to do. Travelers checks? Pay Pal to a western union? Pay pal sounds like the safest way to send my self some emergency money. Does that work

Joey,
Well ......after pushing your bike through miles of sand you thought you could ride through, and connecting with your Chiapan ******, you still want to know how to avoid a traveling crisis ????:?::?:

Set up a few different bank accounts in your home country and get a debit card for each account....and keep the debit cards in separate places....

Take your ******* to a room that is not your primary residence or hotel room....that way she can't set you up with her compadres to rob you of all your stuff later.

Or just stick to pushing your bike along the road that you thought would be fun

paypal....normal persons limit is $500 a month

it takes 5 days for paypal to move the money into your bank account

then you can use it

paypal takes 3 % as a comission

remember when you withdraw in mexico there are "bank fees" on BOTH sides of the border

stuff happens!

be prepared!

why would you do pay pal to western union? doesn't that mean you pay transfer fees to BOTH pay pal AND western union?

travelers checks are very quaint, does anybody still use them?

Paypal is just like a bank. If you have money in your PayPal account , you can withdraw it instantly. Adding funds to a pp acct. Transferring from bank tp pp takes 5 days. Atm daily limit is 400 usd, but you can increase it. There are No fees using PayPal for gifts, loans or personal. There is a 3 % fee if using it for goods or services. Buyer protection plan is excellent. There is no international pp fee in Mexico. A pp debit card is just like a bank debit card, except you have buyer protection w pp.

Safe Send

Bank of America has a program called "safe send" specifically for transferring funds from a BOA account to the account holder in Mexico, or another person designated by the account holder. There is no fee, although they may fudge a bit on the exchange rate. The maximum transfer is the equivilent of $1,500 U.S. in pesos per transaction, with a $3,000 limit per month.
Funds are transmitted to designated offices in Mexico. In Loreto it's at the office where telephone bills are paid.
A BOA account holder must enroll in the program in person in the U. S. of A. and designate to whom funds may be sent.
Once enrolled in the program all that is required to effect a transfer is a telephone call to a BOA office.
Turnaround is pretty fast. I think you can get funds the same day if you call before 11:00 a.m.

Western Union works great too. Many Mexican workers here in the US will use this service to get monies down to their families.

I use a Charles Schwab Bank debit card to withdraw pesos from automated tellers in Mexico. This is a good way to go since you will get the best exchange rate available and do not have to wait in any lines. The cool thing about Schwab is that they refund all the service fees.

They sell prepaid credit cards in the states, (green dot for example.)
Anything similar in Mexico? Could you pay pal yourself some cash that way?

If you lost your card, your stuff, how wold you send your self money? not beg or borrow or steel, send your self

the sand only goes on for 1 mile not 20. 2.1 inch tires make it pushable, 1 inch tires make it like pushing a football sled with a fat coach standing on it and yelling at you.
