Interesting... What is the name of the farm, El Caracol is one big one with it's own airport?

They say they had it made for them on the mainland - I want to say Guadalajara but I would have to verify that.

A number of the farms in Vizcaino, including Caracol, have their own runway. I don't believe many have an an airport, though.

A runway is the landing area of an airport, private or public. But I understand you were thinking of a public vs. a private place. The book Airports of Baja California is 90% dirt runways.

I may be wrong but the metal part of the tables in the first picture looks like it is from an old sewing machine.

Love that dining table and chairs- maybe different upholstery, but their choice is clever given their location. But we'd only need a table about 1/3 of the size of that one. Can't imagine transporting that thing- like moving a giant redwood.

It is, it's a very old foot operated treadle machine, it looks to be a Singer frame.

That type of base held the Singer that I used from grade school until I got married and received a newer model.

Hmfft! "Very old" indeed! Guess I'll spend the rest of my day rocking on the porch and gumming my food.:lol::lol:

Very interesting trip report (both parts). Thanks Blanca.

Thanks, Blanca.

I wish we could buy such furniture in Baja.
Although the artisan corridor, just south of Rosarito Beach, does have some interesting and unusual furnitura as well as door that look like they came off a Mission.

nena - you gave me a belly laugh at 6:30 a.m. Great way to start the day !

Udo, I know those stores there that sell furniture and you can actually order things made to your specifications ... a friend once had a beautiful entry way table made. It came out really nice.

Hey Nena, I didn't mean to bum kick you, but if it makes you feel any better I used a Singer foot operated treadle machine until December of 2003 when I sold my business. It was a "short arm patcher" machine and was probably 75 years old. You just can't beat some old things (people included).

Udo, could you give more info on the "artisan corridor" - on the old road? Like where from the big hotels?
