Shooting: So it doesn't just happen at San Ysidro POE
This just in from the US northern border in Blaine, Washington ... Canadian border officer shot. Very sad.

According to reports this morning, the female border guard is doing well in hospital. The Peace Arch border crossing has been closed since the
incident and is not expected to reopen until later today (Wednesday). Traffic has been diverted to the nearby Pacific Truck Crossing. We have heard
very little about the shooter, who is said to have died at his own hands, except that he was in a van with WA plates.

Thanks, Dave. Yes, the classic unmarked white van, favored by lunatics & terrorists. It will be interesting so hear the entire story as it's being
put together. Very sad. You sorta almost expect a headline like this to be in Mexico. And yet it happened on our northern border. Terrible incident.
Anyway, do you live in Vancouver? I lived in Bellingham and also briefly in Vancouver a few years ago. And, yes, that is my favorite beer, a Kokanee,
in my hand. Two 18-packs travel south with me to California. In 2010, one 18-pack made it to Cabo San Lucas intact and was shared with fellow
travelers.

Nice pic, Bryan good thing you're on the USA side unless the can is already empty! Knew a chap growing up who was a Sasquatch hunter and did early tv
ads for Kokanee. For awhile we called it "tree hugger beer," coined by a friend who was a faller in the logging industry. I'll drink it now but
preferr Bud brewed as you might know, in western Canada. We're upcaost, only a bit, in Powell River but have always spent time in the Vancouver area
off and on.
That crossing is scheduled to open later today (Thursday), have no idea why it's taking so long, maybe installing bullet-proof windows, or finally
training the Guards and issuing firearms. The Federal minister in charge doesn't seem to have a handle on this according to the interview I watched
yesterday.

Thanks Dave. I never did get up to Powell River while I lived there. I did see a fair amount of the southern BC interior over several visits; and
Alberta too. I miss the wonderful people. And the magnificence of this part of the world. Though, not the weather right now; and the next 6 months.

KOKANEE IS A BETTER FISH !!
And when you get a bit north BC (beer) can be hard to find!! and if you like whiskey,, forget it !! next stop is whitehorse (yukon) and the price
will give you a hart attack !!! BYOB and dont miss the "stickine" a river by itself !!! gods land !!! K&T
