205 billion pounds of fish!

Here's an amazing factoid...

The harvest of wild marine fish has reached an all time high at 93 million metric tonnes or 205 billion pounds each year globally.
That's equivalent to 207 million marlin weighing 1,000 pounds each.

In 2009, aquaculture accounted for 46% of the total global food fish supply. 55.1 million metric tonnes.

People are eating a mind boggling amount of fish!

Yet...fish do not inhabit the entire ocean...at least the ones that are caught for food. For the most part they have pretty predictable patterns and the commercial interests are sucking them up.

If you like Humbodlt squid then maybe the future is bright!
