Do you have photos of when I led your club to Mano Canyon from Guadalupe Canyon Hot Springs, in June, 2003? Brock was along in his Isuzu, too... We
had fun watching all you Jeep guys taking turns driving one tire up a rock for photos.
Chris and I had arrived at Guadalupe to join you guys after watching the Baja 500, and used up all the camera film on the race...
Question: Anyone have GPS waypoints for COHABUZO JUNCTION?
Thanks to David K -
COHABUZO JUNCTION 31º55.74'/ 115º36.22', elev. 860'. This point is not named on the map, but is the name used by off road racers (Located to the east
of the airplane symbol in the Almanac, and east of Cerro Cohabuzo in the AAA map). Here is a large level area where pit teams can service their
racers. A poor road and race route goes east to the Laguna Salada basin, joins a good road to Ejido Saldana, and reaches Highway 5 (midway between
Mexicali and San Felipe).
From Cohabuzo Junction north to Guadalupe Canyon's access is a fast graded road. Cohabuzo to Guadalupe is 29 miles.
Note, that GPS qwaypoint might be at map datum NAD27 Mexico... Neal Johns convinced me to post all my GPS posts at that datum to match the locations
on Baja topo maps like the Almanac. The GPS unit comes factory set at map datum WGS84, as is the setting for Google Earth, Google Maps, etc.
I usually state the map datum when I posted GPS waypoints... So, double check before you enter a waypoint in your GPS device. Changing the map datum
is easy, and after entering the NAD27 Mexico numbers, you can change back to WGS84... the numbers will be close, but still far enough apart to miss a
side road by 100 feet or so!

It is nice to find places and roads you see on Google Earth or to go back to after your first time there with one. About $100 for a basic eTrex from
Garmin.
The GPS game 'Geocaching' is a great way to practice finding places! http://geocaching.com (high tech hide 'n seek)!

Ken, are you loaded up? ready to go?
No. Just sitting here, listening to some morning music about to make my coffee.
The garage was completely reorganized yesterday, so that I won't forget anything important. I will try to take less "stuff" to keep weight down.
Should be a good run. Thanks for the maps, too!
Although Luddites like Ken Cooke may not have a GPS, I will be bringing mind on the run. Can you share your Google Earth map or share the waypoints
so I can enter them in my GPS?

If you don\'t like the way I drive, stay off the sidewalk!

Hey Russ,
Didn't I make a Baja Pole Line Booklet for you some years ago? What I made came bundled with all of the GPS Waypoint Data a Baja traveler could ever
need. I'll be sure to bring mine.

I have the KMZ file of the road as you see it posted above on Google Earth, send me a u2u with your email addy, and I will send you the attachment.
