Runways?, roads?, cow trails?, water courses?, dozer track?

Hard to tell at that small image scale and I'd need to see more of the surrounding terrain to get a feel of the environmental context.

Some coordinates would help; or using a larger photo linked from a photo hosting site like Photobucket or Imageshack.

Just inland from Faro de San Jose (San Jose de la Piedra)?

Thank you... and if you set your photo resizer to 800 pixels wide, you don't exceed the page width on Nomad but you provide the biggest photo without stretching the screen...

Mavin Patchen shared with me his Geoglyph discovery near El Marmol... you can find the photos if you do a Nomad search

GPS coordinates 2 and 3 show the marks well on GE.

Can you give any specifics on the eight sites around Los Sauces coordinates #1? Not seeing much in that neighborhood.

Thanks.

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

Direction of Summer solstice sunset?

At 30 degrees North Latitude, the summer solstice sun sets at 297 degrees true.

There are 8 of them in this area

i glanced at your loc on google earth. i saw a lot of game/cattle trails in area, did not see what you saw, but only spent a moment looking...

when you post pic of your alien runways, post a scale bar too. google earth allows you to embed scale.

where is our resident remote sensing imagineer? i think his name was "elbow?"

It would be interesting to see the view from one end at ground level.
My GPS is in Cabo, however.

bacquito, I came across these on accident while researching routes to take on a trip next fall. At first I thought maybe they were from the colonial era and had something to do with cattle. When I searched more I found a bunch of remote ones and noticed the alignment.

They do raise alot of interesting questions. They seem to all be in only one small part of Cochimi territory. The farthest distance between two is only about 20 miles. I have searched North and South of there and no luck, no luck on the East coast of Baja either.
Was this only practiced by one band of Cochima? Or maybe it was a central gathering area of religious importance for different bands?
Also why are there so many? Did they have to make a new one at each ceremony? maybe creating them was the ceremony?

Thanks, keep us informed please.

29 21'59.33"N 114 44'27.60"W Two faded ones together.

29 20'36.12"N 114 43'54.96"W an older looking and smaller one

Here are two more nearby

29 18'23.81"N 114 44'54.13"W (edited W for N)

29 18'12.63"N 114 44'35.29"W

29 21'18.21"N 114 44'48.70"W is at Rancho San José, lots of water in the arroyo, so a good sign for finding old Indian activity. A couple of them could very well be natural... but the ones by the arroyo are very convincing!

So that everyone has an idea of where in Baja this is, I will start from high up, then zoom in on the pair near Rancho San José...
