Crazy airfare prices
Thinking about Baja this morning so I thought I would check airfare prices for our annual trip to the Eastcape in May, I know its a ways out but just
checking. We live in the Carson Valley (Nevada) so Reno to LAX to San jose del cabo $542.00 round trip per person...ouch. Ive checked flights out of
Sacramento (2 hour drive) same pricing. Every year the prices keep going up. Besides driving of course any suggestions for a cheaper option ??? We
wont book until it gets closer. Thanks as always.

As for last minute, I got nothin.
I always plan way in the future and get great deals on Volaris.
Many cheap tickets are not advertised. You just have decide on an approximate time to go and start hunting.
I just got back from a trip. My wife and I got TJ to La Paz RT for $88 each all fees and tax included.
They are out there.
Bueno suerte
No worries

Just priced Sacramento-Loreto.
Best I could come up with was Sac to LAX on southwest $ 168.00 for senior. $ 202.00 for adults.
LAX to Loreto on Alaska ( only game in town ) $ 461.00
for a total of $ 663.00 to fly for 21/2 hrs on a prop driven plane.

TJ airport is newly remodeled, clean, organized and efficient!
I get dropped off on the US side of the Otay border, walk 100 yards, grab a $10 US taxi to the airport and thats it!
On the way back last fri at 5:30 pm, the walking line to the US was about 40 minutes.
Last summer my wife and 3 teenage daughters did this trip without me. No hassles
No worries

Booking THAT far in advance you will be getting average price - not a bargain price. Bargains can be had somewhere 15-40 days in advance, but not 8
months. You may check fly.com or kayak.com - it's from $520 and up, Alaska usually comes the cheapest. Btw, it depends on the length of stay too.

Bah, everything is relative.
Check Phx to Cabo.
Non stop to cabo is $800 RT
I would kill for a $500 ticket

And sometime the airlines pricing strategy is LOCO. And it doesn't seem like the prices have changed much in a year.
Last march I flew from Reno to Cabo/SJD on US Airways. Price was about $540.
I thought this was high at the time so I looked at Southwest to Phoenix and then USAirways to Cabo. The cost of the Southwest flight is immaterial.
The SAME USAirways flight from PHX to Cabo that I would have been on if I had flown from Reno on USAirways and then connected to the US Airways flight
in PHX was $750 by it self!
Hmmm.. $200 less to fly almost twice as far on the SAME airline and on the SAME ACTUAL PLANE ????

I've read they are dropping flights to LaPaz but also SJDC...wow.
The flights I found for $542.00 were actually US Air not Alaska which is fine with me going thru Phoenix rather than LAX.

Alaska Airlines
Guys , where rae you getting your information that Alaska wont serve SJDC or La Paz ?
Can you post a link to the article(s) you've been reading ? If this is true , it is not good news for those of us that have homes and other ties to
the lower Baja.
Thanks ,
Mike

Just want to say I sympathize with ya. Use to be I could fly my whole family down to Cabo for around 1000.00. That was 6 round trip tickets from
N.Carolina to Los Cabos. Now each ticket is costing around 700.00, still going but am starting to question if I shouldnt just buy a plane.

Look into getting some British Airways frequent flyer miles, then book through British on American or Alaska. It's a segment and distance based
system, so direct flights from LAX or San Diego to Cabo are only 7500 miles each way
