Identification for children
Another question: We will be bringing down our son, daughter-in-law and grandkids in April. Son and daughter-in-law are getting enhanced driver's
licenses as identification to prove US citizenship. What kind of ID will be needed for the children? One will be 4 and the other 14months old. Thanks
again for the help.
Whenever I hear that rainy, chill wind blow. I think it may be time to head for Mexico. Tengo que obedecer mi corazon!

I don't understand why people just don't get passports.
Be legal!
My son had a passport when he was 2 and still had one - 40 years later and his 2 kids 6 and 3 have passports too.
What is the hang up?

Mula,
There is no "hang up". I was just asking for my son to see what was required. It just seems silly to have to have a passport for a 14 month old
child. Does anyone know where I can find what is required legally??? Thanks.

A Passport is universal ID, recognized anywhere.
........"Entry Requirements for Mexico
As of March 1, 2010, all U.S. citizens – including children -- must present a valid passport, book or card, for travel beyond the “border zone” into
the interior of Mexico. Entry by any means, for example by plane or car, is included in this requirement. The “border zone” is generally defined as
an area between 20 to 30 kilometers of the border with the U.S., depending on the location. Stays of less than 72 hours within the border zone do not
require a visa or tourist card......"
.........Entry to the US by land or sea: Regardless of your final destination in Mexico, all U.S. citizens age 16 or over must present either a U.S.
passport book or card to re-enter the U.S. by land or sea. Minors under the age of 16 may enter the U.S. via the land border with a certified birth
certificate, consular report of birth abroad, citizenship certificate, or naturalization certificate............"

no one cares about enhanced DLs. all people need passports regardless of age. if you seek a mexican visa, mexico won't give you one w/o passport.
the US will allow gringos to return to US w/o passport; the US lets it's knuckleheads return home, unfortunately.
