'96 F250 Powerstroke overdrive light flashing?? now repaired
I have googled the problem and tried all the things I could do but the overdrive light continues to blink. Here's how it started. The od light started
blinking and awhile later I got locked up in 2nd gear. I pulled over and shifted in and out of all gears. With the OD still blinking I took off again
and it shifted through all gears. I'm towing my SxS but that isn't that heavy and hardly notice it back there. The shifting is less smooth now. Get a
definite jerk as it goes through the gears. Any ideas? Know of any shop that works on trannies in the Mulege area?

there are NO "real" transmission shops in mulege
there are people that do a great job in taking them in and out but no repairs
i just took mine to a place just north of burbank california for a "real" repair
i'll get you the number if needed
my advise...time to drive north before it dies

first try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, clean the terminals, hook-up again...this resets the computer. had almost the same problem.

I have googled the problem!!
WHY would a good mechanic that makes 50 hr and up sit down and upload good info on repair ??? does not happen !! what you almost always get is a Yahoo
that works at auto zone...get what I'm trying to say ??? everything in the world is not on the net..sorry..what you might try is find someone that
has a OBD compliant scan tool and start from there... that could be as simple as a loose/rusty connector on the trans....hope that helps
you...K&T I'm not a tranny guy,, but I know a damn good one !! if you
have no luck u2u me sat. and I'll run it by him.....

B&S, That may be the only smart thing to do.
bbbob, Thanks I have done those things. Some one suggested that I leave the battery cables off for a day. Definitely the battery & cables needed a
good cleaning.

Have you checked the transmission fluid level?

(I snapped by 1997 PS transmission cooling line (while in
baja) without knowing it. My first clue something was amiss, the OD light started blinking!! Had it towed into Guererro Negro, with the help of the
staff at Malarrimo, got it brazed and was good to go.)

I had that happen on my Y2K Ford F350. It turned out to be related to low battery voltage that was a combination of one bad battery ( I have TWO ) AND
cable corrosion.
I think it's battery related. Inspect the ENTIRE length of your battery cable(s), down to the starter and dont forget the engine ground, too.

Hola,please reread my post !! foonote at the end !! and do not leave your batt dissconnected If the ecm batt is dbad/weak which is more than likey is
at that age !! it will have to relearn and not address you issue !! bet you a pig roast dinner on that !!

A friend of mine had a similar problem on his 97 Powerstroke, auto trans. It started shifting really hard and banging into gear. Put an OBD on it and
got trouble codes for a bad antilock brake sensor. Replaced the sensor and the trans worked fine after that. So who knows maybe it's some unrelated
sensor causing your problems also.

The only place to go is Ruben's in Loreto his specialty ia Auto transmisions.

This would be an easy fix! I have had to charge the batteries a couple times to get it running. I've had a solar charger on it and after a couple days
off the charger it barely started. I'll see if I can get some new ones.

Not such a good day. Ran in to have the SxS tire fixed and of course he had the "exact" battery I needed. Got 2 and the puncture "fixed". Got home on
a flat and the batteries are a little small. Which is the good battery here LTH or Gomer (?) ?

Neither.  But what you gonna do? BTW, it's Gohner. I'd actually be surprised if
they werent made in the same factory.
How many CCAs on the batteries you got? Can you return them?

Shoot ! I just wiped my eyes after chopping some chiles.
only 530 cca's -- I only dropped them on the battery tray so no marks on them. If they want business in Chivato they better return the $$

myself have never liked any batts in mex !! and 550 CCA on a diesel............ that will hardly spin a 3 cly metro on a good day !!! I would assume
the auto parts place in rosa would be the ticket to get good batterys for the boats..... but bad batterys with a good charging system would/should not
affect trans ops.....K&T ....Ps unless the system is really maxed and has
very low voltage !!

Ummmm.........that's pretty low. I think you need a minimum of about 750 each and I bet the recommended is probably 875. Eight, high compression
cylinders need some juice to turn them over.
No AutoZone in Santa Rosalia yet???

975 CCA times two..
would be a good start !! no pun intended !! K&T PPS in a group 27 looks like the biggest is 840 CCA..and all the latter model
diesel trucks that I have worked on only have room for group (size) 27 ...K&T..dont think you can squeeze in a D4 Or D8 darn !!!!

I have a 975 and an 850 in mine right now and they turn over muy rapido.
Yeah, I know, dissimilar batteries, cappy. That's what happens where one craps out after only three years. This was a big 975 CCA Interstate. The heat
really eats up batteries down here. I had to settle for a LTH replacement.
