New border crossing?

Our Baja travel buddies just informed us that a new border crossing has opened west of the Tijuana crossing. Is this for real or has the border just been upgraded or...?

I can't find anything through the Google.

Also, Happy Holidays amigos!

Well then, that is good news. That old crossing was...old. And slow.

Aha, looks very nice!

We actually "ran" the old crossing once. Back in '99, I think. We made the mistake of crossing at a peak time and got the red light. The border guard pointed us toward the secondary inspection area but it was jammed full and our big truck-camper-boat rig was blocking other traffic. We kept inching forward, trying to get out of the way, and next thing you know we were on the road. Hubs and I looked at each other, shrugged, and kept driving.

Yes, not the tightest security back then, lol.

you're gonna notice two glaring differences between then and now. first, everyone goes to secondary now. second, upon exiting secondary everyone is greeted by cute senorita in a school girl skirt that hands you a can of the coldest tecate you've ever had, gives you a peck on the cheek, and says "welcome to mexico"!
I like the new crossing!;D

Obviously.
You're a chick? Never occured to me.
Anyway....I'm not a chick and the other day when I came through, the girls, there were two, stopped my Jeep, opened the back door and tossed in a case of Tecate Lite, blew some kisses my way and said, Buen Viaje.
It's the new and improved border crossing.

Crossed last week.

We approached with a motor home and was motioned over to the loop on the right. Only one there. He (not she) came through and opened about all of the cabinets inside, nearly all the bays below, looked at my registration and he was done. Walked over to immigration and we did our paper work. Entire time was about 30 minutes. That was on a Saturday at about 9am.
