Mission San Jose del Cabo tile mural
The tile mural above the main entrance of the current mission site in San Jose del Cabo. This is a depiction of the Pericue indians killing Padre
Nicolas Tamaral.

Nice close up Doug!
There was no parking and we pulled in front and got these two, from the street, before someone came up behind us!
Tamaral was killed in 1734, as was Padre Carranco at Mision Santiago wher ethe revolt started.
San José del Cabo was the only mission that closed (in 1748) for 20 years, during which time it was a visita of the Santiago mission. The mission
reopened again under Franciscan control in 1768. In 1795, the Santiago mission closed and its remaining neophytes were transfered to San José del
Cabo, which remained open until 1840.
During the Mexican-American War, the mission was damaged by the exchange of fire. (1846-1848)

fyi... for anyone wanting to visit in centro San Jose del Cabo...
Parking within a couple of blocks of this area has been a challenge for years. There are however pay-to-park locations behind the stores on the main
street. About US $1.60 for the first hour, and $.80 hour after that (20pesos/10pesos).
