Thanks Ken.... but.... All I'm doing is filling the feeders, opening the window and shooting. I'm still trying to understand how each mode works on
the P510 and for that I'll need another of your lessons anyway. The dove are so damn aggressive I don't put out feed as often. There are a lot fewer
small birds here than precious years and I miss their antics.

Shooting
Very cool shots. Are you getting warblers at the feeder as well?

Just beautiful, Russ! Is the stripe-feathered bird a Flicker?

No idea what a flicker is, ut the one pictured is a woodpecker and the little ones show a healthy respect for them, much more so than for orioles.

The Northern Flicker, pictured, Colaptes auratus, is indeed in Woodpecker (Picidae) family

Woodpecker
I think the woodpecker in the pictures is a male Gila woodpecker.

Thanks BigOly and others. What's the studious bird third from the bottom. Some kind of thresher?

Thanks for clarifying!
They're common (but beautiful) pests in Idaho, but I've never seen one this far South.

You got me Russ!
Yes, that is our endemic Gray Thrasher.
And here's a photo of a Gilded Flicker to compare with your Gila Woodpecker. Notice the markings on the front.

Connie, no big deal or anything but I think you're reading the post wrong. Russ's bird is a Gila Woodpecker. They are often at the feeder. To
learn more about Baja birds just click on my link.
