I am going to do some playa fishing, any suggestions for bait?

Squid off the rocks at the marina usually works.

CortezBlue.....here's what I use for bait. It works great for our area (sfbaja)
http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=48739#pid5613...
I have never had any luck fishing in San Felipe :-( Many fishermen will say the same. Instead of spending time cursing at the fish for not biting
there at SF.....go down to Puertecitos and southward from there. 4 miles south....there is a cove. You will catch :-)
Need any other good spots.....u2 me
Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

Mussel has been the standard for catching corbina and croaker off the beach. Fishing on an incoming high tide. The mouth of a lagoon like at Percebu
or Bahia Santa Maria has been extra good. Grunion or other cut bait and squid are also good for these bottom feeders. On the Pacific side, sand crabs
are often plentiful.
Beach fishing (surf fishing without surf) is what was the draw for my dad back in the 60's when we first went to Agua de Chale (renamed Nuevo
Mazatlan). We had some good fishing from right in front of the camp... but upon discovering the bay just 2 miles north (now called Bahia Santa Maria)
we found fishing at the point at the entrance to be superior.
Always a double hook up!

Throw Crocks, Kastmasters, {blue/chrome} or white scampies over rocky areas.
Vary the retrieve, relax, be patient, and drink beer, above all have fun. If you don't catch anything except a buzz, go to the closest taco stand and
order pescado.

Make sure that you buy those Mussels..... or any other shell fish..... from a Mexican vender. Collecting shellfish is a no no :-)
This includes gathering clams, lobster, shrimp, caracol, mussels, scallops, abalone, squid, and octopus.
