House batteries

All I am in need of some house batteries for my solar system and I seem to remember some talk a while back about there being a place that sells them in GN. We are in Punta Chivato. We have an outback system with Rolls batteries that have been great and have lasted way longer then we ever thought they would.

If we could avoid bringing them across ourselves that would be great.

There are two places on GN with LTH manufactured GC-220 golf car batteries that in specification, match Trojan T-125 batteries. For anything larger, you'll have to go somewhere else.

How many years on the Rolls & Surrette batteries. The 2-volt cells should last 12-20 years depending on the number of cycles. Is the electrolyte cloudy or red tinted?

Gorge/Tito with the mechanic/tire shop just north of PV has them. Mike Morris has been dealing with him and really knows solar systems. You may be able to hire him to handle the whole thing for you.

Yoshio speaks English and is there all the time.

How many and what voltage batteries do you need. I just replaced a bunch of Trojan L16H-AC batteries with a HuP system. I have some Trojans that are only about 6 months old.

Russ thanks for the reply, Jorge was the one who set up our system in the begining when we brought all the stuff down I didn't think of him for ordering the batteries. I think Randy spoke with Jorge and he said now that he has his shop he isnt doing solar anymore?? Randy said he would double check with him. Are you talking about hiring Mike Morris or Jorge. Either way its been a bunch of years since someone has looked at the system other then normal maintanance (been running great) We would be happy to have someone take a good look at it.

I am hoping that maybe only one battery is going bad? I have been told that the system will work to the lowest point kind of like the weakest link in the chain. What has been your experience with this? Or do we just need to replace them all once they start going? Can we replace one or two once we test them all?

A couple years ago we disconnected the newer Trojan Batteries (bought them in 2005) since they were losing charge and stayed with the older Rolls batteries (bought them in 2000), The Rolls are 12 years old

Cobra do you know the name or have a contact of the place in La Paz

David E I am not sure will ask.

Thanks Guys

Replace the entire bank. You're right, the lowest battery sets the limits, and a new battery in an old bank will only last as long as the next oldest one that was there before.

It's hard to replace batteries that are working, but over the long term you'll be ahead.
