headed north, hotel rec's G. Negro and Ensenadad

okay, I should know after all these years here, but am trying to break the drive north up a different way this time (Loreto-Tecate-Phoenix).
need hotel recommendations in both places.
Mallarimo in G.N. and Hotel California in E. have been recommended but friend hasn't stayed in either for years. how are they holding up?
other good bets?
directions, contact numbers and/or websites if you have them would be nice, too.
am a single female without pets or much baggage to worry about in car..don't want to spend more than 45US/night.

We stayed at Mallarimo two weeks ago with a group of 20. I didn't hear any complaints and our room was just fine....
if you expect Four Seasons, you will be disappointed, but it was clean and food in the restaurant was good...

If you are going to cross @ San Ysidro, you want to stay @ the Estero Beach Resort @ south end of Ensenada. Ask for a FastLane pass when you check in, or out, and it will make the crossing a breeze. We came north a week ago last Sunday AM and the border crossing was 15 minutes start to finish with the FastLane pass from the hotel. Rooms are excellent, food pretty good and the scenery superb. Rates were $79.00 USD for oceanview.
Not sure if other hotels have the pass available. Might want to check with them when getting reservations.
Haven't stopped in GN lately, so can't say one way or another on the Motel Malarrimo.

MALARRIMO
http://malarrimo.com (not recommending it, just helping you find it... as there is no place spelled Mallarimo!) :light:
