would rather be with with a few other RV's. Any suggestions, comments, directions. Thanks. |
Los Olivos - Two hundred yards north of Jardine's. Quiet, secure, gate closed at night.
Posada Don Diego's - In Vincente Guerrero 10 miles north of San Quintin.

I vote for Posada Don Diego's. Quiet, safe and a great restaurant. Turn west at the north end of the Z gas propane yard, and PDD's is about 1/2 mile
down the road. If you happen to stay there on a Sunday you can try their Sunday buffet. All you can eat and lots of variety. Delicious.

http://www.posadadondiego.com/ In Colonia V. Guerrero, south side of town, west from highway, before propane plant.
http://www.losolivosrvpark.com/ South of San Quintin and Lazaro Card##as, at or near Km. 2 marker, go west from highway, then south a short
distance... near the Jardines Restaurant/Motel (same road).

Los Olivos: stayed there twice in the last two years. They have a locked gate and on-site caretakers. When we drove by two weeks ago to stay at
Jardine's, there was a big group of happy children romping in the playground. It was around $20 USD. You should arrive before 4 p.m. as the gates
might be closed.
Jardine's: if you want a great hotel for a few more dollars...e-mail for reservation, it has a huge parking lot and night security. Great restaurant
and gardens.
Posada Don Diego: quiet, good place, great hospitality, night watchman.
All off these places are off Mex 1 and on dirt roads, which can be muddy if it rains. with an RV you might want to check DK's links and get your
bearings so you don't miss the turn offs.

We too drove by Los Olivos a couple of weeks ago, and was impressed by how much the new owners (a couple of years now?) have done. It is green, clean
and well cared for. Also, a great restaurant just down the street.
If you wanted to go a bit further, I have heard good things about the campo run by Rancho Sordo Mundo, about 15 miles from Ensenada on the Tecate
Road.

The only possible short coming at Olivos is 1 shower for men, 1 for women. With a big group of kids, there might be a hot water problem, and a long
line to get a shower.
About 5 pull-through spots for RV's, water/power hook up, no dump facility.
Big plus is Jardine's next door and a short walk.

Los Olivos has a dump facility. It is built into that circular planter/garden in the driveway directly in front of the RV spaces.

Olivos has 110v 15 amp hook-up -- any coach having 30/50amp will need an adapter. Voltage seemed steady and between 110-120v.
There are 5 RV sites but dry camping would not be a problem if they were full. I've been the only RV there most of the time but it still felt
safe.

"With a big group of kids, there might be a hot water problem, and a long line to get a shower."
They're not camping. Los Olivos has a playground and fee for day use to use it. When I was there in January, they were building a nice conference
room facility and a swimming pool.

Olivos also has tent camping fees. A week ago, there were dozens of tents pitched in the grassy area -- doubt these were day trippers.
Doesn't mean kids from somewhere don't drop by for the day. It does mean when there are lots of happy kids there for the nght, there would be a
challenge with lack of facilities.

Or you might try the Cielito Lindo, they USED to let you camp there free overnight if you had dinner in their restaurant. Last time we were there
(not to camp) we noticed a security guy walking around checking things out.
Two dirt roads diverged in Baja and I, I took the one less graveled by......

What is the current status of El Pabellon RV Trailer Park? Is it still considered safe? I used to stay there on my way to Mulege each year in my RV.
It is basic but does have showers and some hookups.
It has miles of white sandy beach and sand dunes. Let your dogs run free. Friendly family owns it.

WE really like the place BUT the last time we stayed there Someone Broke into Our Pickup while it was hooked to our Motor home while we were asleep
and stole a bag of tools out ot the camper on the truck.
Ever thing you said about the place I agree with but I will never stay there again unless someone else is there.

You know, staying anywhere outside the prison walls would be safe for me at San Quentin. Now, San Quintin...is a horse of a different color!!
