Cuban Cigars

I know this has been asked many times, but couldn't find anything recent. Yes I know most Cuban cigars supposed to be fake.

Going to be in Ensenada & would like to find a fairly reputable cigar store. The last time I was there (many moons ago) there was a La Casa del Habano, but I see it isn't listed on their website.

From what I have read, the only place I would trust buying Cuban cigars in Baja would be in Tijuana, at La Casa del Habana, 5th and Revolution Avenue

Personally, I purchase my cigars online from Thompson Cigar. They are just as fine as any Cuban cigar I have had in the past.

There are some places in Canada that will ship authentic Cuban cigars to the US, but I have never tried that.

Example:

Basically I just want about half a dozen. I smoke maybe one per week, especially when grilling. Don't need to buy a whole box. I have a passing knowledge of Cuban cigars & know where not to buy.

Really don't want to stop in TJ. Thought I saw something about Rosarita?

May help you if someone here is heading over to the pacific side from San Felipe.....

These guys have em.
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Rancho-Market-San-Felipe-Baja...

There WAS a guy off the malecone near the alley.... that made the cigars on site. he relocated to the northern parts of San Felipe some three years ago. Perhaps someone here might have his current address. He was the number 1 place to get Cuban cigars

Chomping on a cigar while grilling.........my father did the same thing.

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

Just fly over to Havana from Cancun or even San Jose, CR. Cuba wants you to come and spend money. They will not stamp your passport. They will issue a tourist card upon arrival. Get some Cohibas while you are there. Have a great trip!:light:

You can purchase single cigars x 6 from the Canada site I posted. They will ship them directly to you for $30.

"Nemisis" storefront sells authentic Cuban cigars in Ensenada. 100 feet from the Mcdonalds. The owner really hustles (in a good way) his product and I have enjoyed his Cuban cigars for 3 years.

I went to Baja in 2000 with Lorenzo de Baja, of the old Amigos de Baja board (Ferna de Tijuana was his friend, too)... and he smoked Havanas... said there was on legit cigar shop in Tijuana for them (with a walk in humidor)... it was in the mall along the river, down from the big ball (CECUT).

General Comment

About 35-years ago I met a fellow fly fisherman way up in the sierras. He offered me a stogie. Said he was fresh back from Kuwait. Some fancy Cuban Monte Cristo. Man wotta smoke that was. But the price...holy mole.

Lots of fake Cubans out there. But, now and then a fresh real one finds it way to me. I will say, the real ones have never disappointed me!

I'm Cuban but been in US 50 years. Smoked a REAL one in Spain and it sure was different. Because of Cuba US relations, the US government actually encourages counterfits. The real ones are special, from the box, to the bands to the seal to the taste. Just special. I have a friend that brought two boxes back from Europe and I smoked some of them. Montecristo #2 were outrageous.
