Loreto Car Rental

Hola Nomads,
I have to be in Loreto at the end of the month and need a suburban or similar SUV for a week or more. Fox Rent a car seems to be the only one who has one but I'm only looking online. Are they any good? The have an office at Lindberg Field (San Diego) but the phone number is wrong on the website! Doesn't help with the warm n' fuzzies. Any other outfits that have 'burbs, vans, or what have you? Totally lost since I usually drive in.......Thanks!

We were in Loreto 2 weeks ago and rented a Jetta from Fox, located on Paseo Miquel Hidalgo Street in town and then we returned it at the airport. We were quoted a ridiculous price from the gal at the front desk, we then talked straight with Rudolpho and got the price down a good chunk, still expensive but a little closer to what we budgeted. Renting a car in Mexico is pricey to say the least, the price of the car is not the problem, it's all the extra insurance you need to have to cover your butt! 20.00 per day for the car and 35.00 per day for the insurance plus taxes and fees. The guy at the airport and Rudolpho both spoke great English! I'm looking at my receipt right now and here is the number on it! Good luck!

buy the insurance and rent from fox. we had a great time in cabo last year. when i returned the car the guy at the curb was busily noting every paint chip, scrape and all the dirt. he was very thorough. he proudly presented his findings to the counter lady who took my paperwork, paused and said have a nice flight!

I rented a suburban from Fox in La Paz a couple of years ago. They were great, and cheaper than the others. I ran through some road tar that got on the paint and they didn't hassle us at all. I have rented from Fox two other times from LP and Cabo and have had good service each time.

I deal with Fidel at Fox in Loreto (613)135-1090. He has trucks with a trailer hitch and I have seen Suburbans in his fleet too. Great to deal with, and as others have said they have the best prices. Their office is downtown on Hidalgo but they do pick you up at the airport.

Servando at the Fox office in Nopolo (Loreto Bay) is great and speaks perfect English. He'll help you get the best price. 613 116 5770
