Mother's Day Trip to Ensenada
We had a little break in the action here in Asuncion...hahaha...things are slow these days, so I went to Ensenada to spend Mother's Day with my
daughter Sirena. From the get-go, this trip was all about the FOOD!!! and hangin with Sirena grandson Izaak of course!
The drive to Ensenada was really nice...not one search at any checkpoint going north or sough!!! good roads, not much traffic, nice weather and good
tunes! First stop was to catch up on old times with Gotta Peso...he seemed a bit tired and didnt even stand up both times we chatted...he appreciated
the home made chocolate chip cookie I gave him.
Arriving in Ensenada we stopped for Sushi on the main drag...most excellent as always...Izaak had a wee bit of trouble with the chopsticks but
insisted on using them.
the next day was our shopping spree in the segundas...Izaak got a shave and a haircut at the barber shop downtown.
I treated my little blue pony to some new tires, a tune up, brake job etc. and then went to the market...ya never know what you are gonna find
there...roast pig anyone?
Then to Carl Juniors for their famous yam fries which I adore! Then to Cochinita for the seafood rice bowl for a quick snack before dinner at the new
Thai restaurant by Costco which was a cool place with pretty good food too...nice bar with big screens with music videos which was neat.
Mother's Day morning Adrian took us to my favorite restaurant by the sea...San Miguel which has incredible food and unbeatable beautiful gardens
overlooking the surf...I loved the smoked salmon, spinach frittata and homemade toast..yum yum....
then on to the Mother's Day celebration at my son in law's brother's place which was fantastic. They had great food and hired a nice couple who played
music for several hours called Vino Tinto who I understand play at some restaurants around Ensenada...they were really excellent and I highly
recommend them if someone wants a special touch at a gathering or party. They played all kinds of music and speak english as well.
Here are our hosts and their neice doing some cool dancing.
I had a fantastic weekend with my amazing daughter!
it was pretty cool because nearly everyone there spoke English and is was a fun mix of Mexicanos and some gringos scattered about!

Great Pics Shari
You have a gorgeous grandson - he is going to be a real heartbreaker!
Glad you were able to spend Mother's Day with your daughter; we were blessed that our daughter traveled to Baja to visit us.
Where did you have sushi and where is Restaurant San Miguel?

Mon Sharí.....Bruce told me about running into you at Walmart and said "Hi."
You drove all the way up here with that ANAPROMEX [or whatever] sticker on your car without problems from Feds or State?....WOW.

Yeah Dennis...that's just the kinda girl I am...what? is there a problem with Anapromex? didnt run into any feds or cops of any kind...never had a
problem and I've had Anapromex thingies forever....and gosh...Bruce didnt give you that big sloppy kiss I sent? that's the last time I'll send a
message through him!
Restaurant San Miguel is just south of the last toll booth coming from Rosarito...hang a right shortly after the booth...there are 2 restaurants
there...one for breakfast and lunch and another one for dinner...fantastic place for weddings, receptions etc....perfect service, excellent food and
just all round great.
The sushi place is on the main street in the tourist section by the ice cream shop...there is a pedicure joint a couple doors down...I cant remember
the name of it but has excellent sushi.

Up here, they sometimes see it as a mordida magnet. My worker says the feds are the worst. In the "working man" neighborhoods, such as Maneadero,
they lighten up some, but in Ensenada, they go for it more.
Bruce mentioned it, but.......

Just south of the Ensenada toll booth is a small Extra convienence store. Turn right just before the store....looks like a driveway, follow it to the
end. One of the restaurants there is Boules, run by Javi Martinez, the brother of David Martinez who owns Muelle 3 in Ensenada, the other restaurant
is San Miguel.........

Absolutely love these photos Shari. What a great Mother's day you had. That's wonderful...
