Any which way but loose

Any which way but loose!

I was going to start this weeks report by describing the fishing as slow but that is not accurate. After looking at some of the photos we captured a better description is spotty.

Conditions couldn't be nicer with warm sunny days, calm seas and tidy bowl blue water pushing 80 degrees. The sea is alive with huge spots of bait, turtles and manta rays. Striped marlin dorado and wahoo are all on the prowl. The only fish noticeably missing for this time of year is yellowfin tuna. They showed up late last year and it looks like this is going to be another late appearance.

The game fish have been spread over a large area with no real concentration. It has been a matter of working hard for the opportunity to present itself and being ready to take advantage. In an effort to increase action we have tried many different technics this week and found them all effective but none have triggered more action. It is just a waiting game paying our dues.

"Mr Lucky" aka Accurate Jack Nilsen fished with us this week and lived up to the name I have donned him. He wasn't on Jen Wren III 10 minutes when we hung a wahoo that weighed in excess of 60 pounds. This guy could fall in a bucket of you know what and end up with a hoo by the tail.

Also with us was Simrad's electronics wizzard Tito Perez. Every time he visits we learn more about our Simrad electronics and the tools we have to catch more fish. I may be sleeping in the bodega for a while but couldn't resist ordering 2 new NSS combination plotters for Jen Wren. Now both boats will have matching killer gear.
