HWY. 5: Mexicali to San Felipe and on to Km. 31.

May 25 & 27, 2013: No Detours, no dirt... In fact all the new style road (wider two lanes with bike path wide shoulders or four lanes with normal shoulders) is in from Mexicali to San Felipe with just a 3 mile section of original Hwy. 5 beginning at La Ventana, heading south.

The military checkpoint did not inspect us going south or going north today... that's a first in recent history.

Gasoline was 11.05 pesos per liter for Magna (Regular) at San Felipe and 11.36 pesos per liter at Tecate (Border zone). However, using dollars, the exchange rate at San Felipe was 11.5 pesos per dollar and in Tecate was 11.8 pesos per dollar... This made the price per gallon the same at both: $3.64 dollars/ gallon. On the U.S. side of the border I passed stations with ranges fro $3.89 to $4.05.

The road south of San Felipe is the same, slow as far as Puertecitos due to sudden steep dips.

Hahaha...that was a good one, rts551... Lol... Although i appreciate David's help on the edit options. You know english is my second language, so i try to be very careful whenever i write it down. I dont want to insult no one, specially Shakespeare, with my bad written english. Lol. And specially the photo and spelling police. Lol lol.. Thanks again Honor Nomad David.

Oh now....that's a rarity! Good guys working that station....we always drop off water or/soda to them.
