From La Paz North

Left La Paz at about 7 AM. Roads and trafic were good. Had lunch at Santispec, the new Cafe not Anna's. Great food, (we had breakfast again) great service and nice prices. I am going to bring back some spices for pescado negro. Got through Sant Rosalia without a hitch. That town was hopin though, traffic backed up at every alto. There was a short wait just before we got the the Gasapasa plant, a little shoulder work on the hill. Just as a note of information, the first military stop we had was north of Loreto and boy did they toss every car. There where people parked after the inspection station putting their cars back together, and I was right there with them. They even went through my pool cue case, must have thought I had a rifle in there, nope just pool cues!!! Spent the first night in Geurrero Negro at Cowboy motel. Clean, good tacos up front, but the bed was to soft!!!!!! I'll still go back.
Left early heading north. The road went bad about half way between the turn off to BoLA and the turn off at Laguna Chapala. Pot holes that had been repaired pourly and new ones that were being chipped at by each passing vehicle. Not deep but they will be soon enough. Got out of the bad road at around KM 208. Then the Vado that has the spring in it coming into Catavina was all but washed out. Had to crawl through picking my tracks. With each military stop the inspections got shorter. We were vehicle # 8 and there were 4 more behind us at the stop north of San Ignasio. It took almost 30 minutes just to get to the inspection. They looked at everything but did not toss it quite as bad as the first group. From there they got better and better. Made it to Ensenada about 2PM and shopped for tires for my turck, just getting prices. Made it the the border at Otay via Blvd 2000 at about 4:45, by 5:10 we were through and on the road to our first destination.......Grand kids!!!!!!

Happy Trails
