Coast Guard intercepts pot-laden panga

From The San Diego Union Tribune

By Susan Schroder

SAN DIEGO - "An estimated 250 bales of marijuana were found on a panga boat intercepted Tuesday about 100 miles southwest of San Diego, the Coast Guard said.

A Coast Guard C-130 Hercules plane spotted the panga Tuesday morning, and the cutter Edisto was diverted to the area, said Petty Officer 3rd Class Connie Gawrelli.

Three people on the panga were seen throwing fuel barrels overboard in an apparent attempt to lighten the boat's load and flee, she said.
From The San Diego Union Tribune

"As the cutter neared, the three suspects stopped the boat and put their hands in the air, she said.

The bales, wrapped in paper and duct tape, weighed from 10 to 40 pounds each, Gawrelli said.

The boat, suspects and marijuana were turned over to the Mexican Navy, Gawrelli said. The suspects identified themselves as Mexican citizens, she said."

Back in 2000 an expat told me of finding a whole panga-full in a very remote place.

His response: "Scared spit-less...lifetime supply in the desert.":O:coolup:

Beach Bob found a bail. No comparing the weed to good NorCal variety.

Us, stopped to unload material at La Salinas, a panga driver from nearby asked for a course to his remote destination.

He left without compass, but my impression, experienced.

I've often found Mex regs vague, ambigious, as in Mex Immigration, etc., but we
in the US are not far behind, bring that weed up
to LA, and it is sold in those Pot Clinics, and I
believe take it up to the State of Washington and the possession and use
is totally legal

Medical marijuana states may already be far ahead of Mexico in the vague and indecipherable arena. Because the people in California spoke their wants and needs, and the Politicians rolled-out a really bad bill, it is anyone's guess what is legal. I know for sure that after my cancer when I took a 420 recommendation from my Doc, I was perfectly legal, except I still owned a .22 target pistol. Under FEDERAL law it is a felony for a known user of Schedule 1 narcotics to own a firearm.

Within the past year in my town a guy in a fight with his sister over a concealed .44 shoots her to death. In his house they find two assault rifles, he was convicted and did 300 days already served awaiting trial. A lot of his time served was waiting for the shrinks to determine if he was lucid enough to stand trial.

Really...the Feds want my Rugar Mk. II.:fire::fire::fire:

Wow indeed. I wonder if Doug will delete this one too. When Skeet blew up over banner ads on this site, it happened that Bill had been silent for some time and the question was asked about what might have happened. I suggested that if Bill took the same attitude with people in person that he did with people on this board, the best place to look might be a shallow grave near a neighbors house. (my post was deleted) I repeat the suggestion. If Bill behaves this way around live humans, someone is likely to put us out of his misery.

Sorry Doug if you have to do it, you have to do it. Bill is a flippin' troll, and seldom has anything positive to contribute. If it really "takes one to see one", I am embarrassed.

My experience suggests it takes A LOT, one has
to go quite a ways out to get Doug to pull the
plug on some topic or someone. I think that is to
his credit. An interesting part of this board is the
varity of posters, you get to play amateur psycologist
reading the posts of the Blowhards,
the Lefties, the Righties, the Eco
Minded Conservationists (of which I'm a member),the Non Eco Conservationsist,
the NRA supporters, the Racists, all are represented
here, desenting opinions I think are good, ignore the
one's you disagree with
