pass the turn into the normal garita lanes and make the next right. it'll come to a busy intersection with most cross traffic going right, follow them.

btw, last time we sat for an hour while cars sped past in the normal lanes.....:fire:

get off just north of calafia. follow the signs. it goes on forever but eventually the signs appear. don't turn of blvd 2000 until you see the signs for SD.

I forget who wrote this....maybe Bajaguy/Terry......but I saved it. There's a 2000 off ramp, and a toll booth around Popotla. Take the ramp slowly because the booth is right there:

"exit Corridor 2000 at the Garita de Otay/Industrial Blvd off ramp............

CONTINUE on Industrial Blvd up and over the business overpass. You will pass a McDonalds and a PEMEX on your right. After the PEMEX you will come to a stoplight intersection with a blue and yellow tire shop on your right. If you turn right at this intersection (Garita de Otay - Las Aztecas) you will be in the "regular" lanes to the US border.

Continue on Industrial past Garita de Otay and the tire shop....you will be passing a large park or wooded area on your right.....turn right at the first street (Instituto Politecnico Nacional) after the park.

Continue on Nacional (the park will again be on your right) past the park. You will pass two schools on your right....CETIS 156 and Segunda 29.

Just past the schools, turn right on the first street - Alejandro Humboldt - (there should be a "Ready Lane" sign)......follow Humboldt.......this will put you in the Ready Lane lineup."

Sent to your e-mail.

I have known people who have tried to cut the line by using the first road past Garita de Otay and have been turned back to the end of the line by TJ Police.......YMMV

Just thinking.........this will work best when traffic is moderate. When heavy, it may be difficult to impossible to make the right turn on Humboldt as it will be blocked with cross traffic which you will need to get in line behind. That requires another strategy to get in that line.
If someone else here can explain that, I'd feel better because I've never done it. I'll keep watching here to see if we get bailed out, and if not, I'll give it a try.
It would be helpful if you had a good idea of when, day and hour, you plan on getting into Otay.

Hey, Terry.......can you explain what I was trying to say up there, about finding the end of the line on Humboldt?
I need to know too.

You not only can not turn right on Alejandro Humboldt
but if you make it to that intersection you will be turned around due to construction. Currently the ONLY way to get into the Ready Lane lineup is to continue past the Garita de Otay sign at the tire shop and, staying in the right lane, merge onto the road for the Aeropuerto. About 1/4 mile down the road you will see everyone getting off at the exit that says San Diego I 5. That is the lineup for the Ready Pass lanes and is Alejandro Humboldt.

In this day and age........they can't properly sign the frigging international border? For the most part they do, but not this Ready Lane at Otay. It's ridiculous that they can't accomplish this simple task. Sorry............my rant of the day.

I know how to get there from experience but for the casual traveler, signs would really be beneficial and add to the experience and hopefully generate more visits.

I say let Tecate buy the rights to the border and I bet signs would go up the next day.

It's the Mexico side, Jon. They don't put up signs for much at all that isn't for sale.
They just figure, if you're there, you must know where you are.
Besides, confusion on the roads is just like giving the police a pay raise.
