BA Highway getting a face lift

The road is finally getting a much needed face lift. They are actually working on a large stretch of highway, too. Hopefully they do a good job:tumble:

That's just about how thick the asphalt was on Hwy 1 when I first motorcycled it in 1974. Broke up and potholed very quickly.

Just got back from a trip to Vizcaino for building materials and lots of equipment working on the road making fast progress. The sideroad we had to take at times was pretty sandy. They say they will have the whole nasty thing repaired soon. Most of it is gravel now and only short parts of potholes and having the new pavement in sight makes the trip alot less...mad!

The massive repair is a very good thing --- finally! And it should last at least a few years.

Drove the road again today....it's really bad now...all the gravel trucks are pounding the remaining pavement...so let's hope they repave it all or it will be a wash:wow:

hey what happened to the "bad roads keep bad people out" heros? Yhey used to be all over this forum.

Just kidding, glad to see the Asuncion and Bahia Tortugas folks (we forget about them sometimes) get their road fixed and the trip will be much more pleasant and trouble free.
