Netflix Mexico
Anyone have experience watching Mexican Netflix? How is their English language selection compared to US?
Thinking of getting a smart TV.
No b-tchin\' in the Baja.

The USA version has a far better selection of movies and less Spanish language ones.
When I surf Netflix, while connected to a proxy server in the USA, it is obvious.
Yet I am still confounded as to how to get my Western Digital TV box to display those USA selections.
My proxy server provider (Strong VPN) says I need a specially tweaked router to get past this.
A direct cable connection from the Telmex Infinitum provided router, to the WDTV box doesn't cut it.

just got done watching Netflix here in BA...we have our account in the States...the selection is tweaked a bit when we're down here but overall not
too much different.

I thought about a VPN router but according to my internet provider Osmar the VPN would substantially cut my data speed. But I don't understand if what
CortezBlue is suggesting is the same thing.
But maybe establishing an account in the states first like Bajaboy did is the way to go. Hmm.

overplay has a super dns program that i use.
it is not a vpn and does not slow down your speed
you can try it free
i use mine with a buffalo router and it supports my sonos with pandora and rhapsody but not slacker. also amazon video and cloud player

I subscribed to Netflix a few months ago, by responding to an ad for a free trial on MSN. I was in Mexico at the time, I have done nothing and get all
the movies in their suite, I am annoyed from time to time by spanish subtitles, but watch a film a day...In Mulege...

The mexSelection has grown ten fold in the last year. They are adding about 12 movies per week . Your netflix homepage will only show you about 100
movies out of the 10,000 plus titles.

Trust me, you are only getting a small amount compared to the USA contract.
It is better to setup a VPN or dns system to get Netflix USA.
Unless you are happy with what you have. In that case you are good to go, but then you would already know that.

We bought a Vizio smart TV, drove it to Loreto, installed it, and Netflix didn't work. Vizio customer service told us that U.S. smart TVs do not work
in Mexico. Only smart TVs made in Mexico work in Mexico! Different computer chip setups. (Smart TVs are $$$$ in Mexico!)
So we switched out the smart TV for an extra Sony flat screen we had. With an HDMI adapter between laptop and TV, we watch U.S. Netflix in Loreto all
the time. There is a video on You Tube that tells you how to set it all up.

But seriously, thanks for that info. We have been debating whether to bring one down after summer vacation up north or to just get it here at Costco.
So do you get a good hi def picture on your Sony hooked to the computer?

So here are some options:
1. Slingbox: WIth slingbox and a good internet service you can hook your cable or satellite and watch it via the internet in Mexico. Great option
with all of the pay per view programs and video on demand (VOD)
2. Roku: A great little box with tons of options. However, if you want Netflix or Amazon on demand, Note, you have to activate your Netflix and most
services in the USA or you will not be able to watch many USA programming, even with a VPN service.
3. Google TV, like Roku, but much more limited.
For Music
1. Sonos, man I couldn't live without my Sonos. Rhapsody, Pandora and XM radio are awesome.
I have all of the above and use Overplay.net Super DNS service and all work great, as if I am in the USA.

I think the key is this. If you buy a Smart TV in the USA, setup the Smart TV in the USA and activate the services that you want. I had a similar
problem with my Roku. When I tried to activate it in Mexico, it would not allow me to log in using my USA Netflix account. However, on my Ipad I was
able to watch Netflix Mexico, without any problems. I took the Roku back to the US, reset the unit to factory default, loaded all of my services that
I wanted and it worked fine. And once I activated my VPN in Mexico, I got it all!!
