The houses destroyed belonged to Raul Montez (who owns the property) and Bruce and Suzette Bartel, Linda McMenamy, and Marita, (don't know last name) who all lease land from Montez.

I hope nobody was hurt! I just met Suzette lounging in the water down at La Perla. Very nice lady who was so stoked to be in Baja/Concepcion. We swam & talked like old friends. She & Bruce had friends visiting and invited me over but I was camping. I sure hope they rebuild as her personality tells me this would not deter her love for Mulege. My Best & get back soon. Tio

Do propane tanks explode if in direct sunshine on really hot days? I suppose gas line fittings would be the first to go.

No, even when full there is plenty of margin for expansion and there is very little pressure after the regulator. Most propane explosions are due to a build up of gas in an enclosed space due to a line leak.

A common cause of fire and explosions in "solar use" places are the batteries that have no charge controller on them.

Yikes! That is close to our house, but looks to me we are south of that a hundred meters or so.
