He abruptly passed away on July 9 and was a resident of Punta Banderas since 1985.

Any chance that image could be uploaded in a legible size? I remember Glen fondly and would like to read the details.

Thanks for that link, but, boy did the Mormons do a hatchet-job on Glen. If it hadn't been for the photo, I wouldn't have recognized him.

Yes, he was a Republican. But he was a log-cabin Republican and his lifestyle was a far cry from anything Maroni could countenance. His compound (two houses joined together) was a haven for LGBT tolerance back before Baja could pronounce the acronym. When his partner died with AIDS ... this would have been around 1997 ... the wake lasted for at least three days, with Glen insisting he had seen his friend's ghost walking the hallways, smiling at him. Glen deserves a similar wake.

Earlier in the 1990s, Glen did something that will have to go into a book on How to Be a Good Ex-Pat. He got most of the Punta Banderites to chip in and buy a patrol car for the Rosarito police. That was more effective than a year's supply of doughnuts.

Glen's business was San Diego County retirement homes. The economic climate now favors bringing those south of the border and it was on my list to go see him about that idea over the next couple of weeks ... oh well. At least he died where he was happiest.

Sad news indeed. We had a few opportunities to help on some GSL clinics, took the kids as scouts to volunteer also.
I don't read obituaries, but I did read this one and what caught my eye was that one can also be survived by friends. I never knew this. I was always under the impression that it was family, ie.spouse, children,grandchildren.....
Wow, what an honor Dr. Joaquin and at the same time, mi amigo, I am sorry for your loss.
